  6. QUOTE: "He said while the police commissioner had no discretion to allow the early release of Dr Nugawela's car, he could waive his payment of the impoundment fee." Car stays in impound, but he doesn't have to pay the impound fee
  7. A quick update, they're on FACEBOOK :lolcry: Here's the latest update: Just a reminder that Ben's cruise this year, is a "memorial" cruise for everyone....if you have lost someone & you wish to cruise in their honour, buy a ribbon in their favourite colour & tie it to your windscreen wiper (you can even write their name on it).... Black was Ben's favourite colour so we will be flying that....we have some friends who lost their daughter just after Ben & her favourite colour was pink, so we will be flying that as well. Finally, if you intend going go kart racing at the end of the cruise & have your own full faced helmet...bring it with you.

  9. a couple of weeks ago, someone was asking about "RIP Drift Pig" stickers, this is the annual cruise (taken from the NS.com forum): ANNUAL BEN SIMPSON MEMORIAL CRUISE On the 1st Feb 2010 it will be 5yrs since we lost our much loved Ben (dr1ft_pig13). To celebrate his life and membership of this forum we hold an annual memorial cruise, we usually raise money for an associated charity. This year have planned it differently, we will NOT be collecting/asking for donations (the cruise maps will be provided free). If you have lost a someone recently (no matter how they died) and wish to cruise in their honour please buy a wide ribbon in their favourite colour, write their name on it & attach it to your windscreen wiper. As this event is always held very close to the anniversary of Ben leaving us it is a difficult time & we ask you to respect our wishes in relation to this cruise/event. •It will be a relatively short (approx 1.5hrs) leisurely paced cruise, it will pass across the hills face but there will be no intense windy/slider type roads. •There will be only one cruise group, slowest & fastest all in the same group. •If your intention was to come & slide....stay home. •It your car is currently defected & by reasons of the defect unable to be driven, don't bring it. •As we will not be collecting any $$ it will not be classified as a "charity cruise", therefore I can not write letters for permits ALL types of cars and drivers are most welcome. The cruise will be concluding at a GO KART track where Softy will be accepting challengers in the HT.net Grand Prix. This is where you can display your driving "skills" - for those who want to go karting it will cost a max of $25 for 15 laps (10mins). Come and join us remember those who have left this world long before their time. DATE: SAT 30TH JANUARY 2010 TIME: 6PM MEET for a 7PM CRUISE START WHERE: CNR GOLDEN GROVE ROAD & JACK HIGH LANE RIDGEHAVEN (in the currently closed waterworld car park) "the dr1ft_pig13 OLDS"

  13. TOYOSHOW IS COMING :lolcry: from the toyoshow facebook site: Awards are confirmed As many people would be aware, we were seeking a change with the awards and judging. We've tried to allow for the range of cars we'd like to encourage to the show: The show car: This is the full display car with border, cloth underneth, mirrors, theme etc. These are the best show Toyotas in the state and we want to see them and show them off. These cars will be expected to be extremely clean and well presented. The classic: The restoration or very well kept vehicle. Older cars are harder to keep clean and normally require a lot more work, we'd like to acknowledge those guys that have spent the time and effort to bring those cars back to former glory. Classics will be awarded extra points for story boards and evidence of work done as well as overall age. Classics is open to 25+ year old cars. The Enthusiast: Most likely the busiest category; this category will encompass the daily driven cars, the rally, race and drift beast, and the general enthusiast car - special, rare and/or modified. Enthusiast cars will not be judged so much on the cleanliness but more on the modifications, presentation and overall credibility of the vehicle. Race, Rally and drift cars will score points for extra race gear (roll cage, racing seats, aero modifications, engine upgrades, etc.) while the every day cars will not be judged (at all) for the engine bay, or underside cleanliness. ToyoChamp has also been modified. In previous years it's been required for a ToyoChamp to complete all events to be eligable, this year it will be a decision by ToyoShow officials and not based on judging or requirements. It will be a hand picked car and driver that has been most in the spirit of the weekend; this will include participation in as many events as possible (given that a drift car is not likely to be in the cruise for example, or a 4x4 in the dyno competition), the driver will have displayed good attitude through out the weekend and the car will be displayed in a very good manor at the show and shine - extra items, vehicle display, club theme (if with a club) etc. So, with that in mind the new awards are; ToyoChamp 2010 Show and Shine: Classic 1st 2nd Show 1st 2nd Enthusiast 1st 2nd Matron of Modified Entrants Choice Top Club Display No Plate Award Top Interior Top Paint Best Displayed Vehicle Top Engine Bay Best 4x4 Encouragement Award Loudest Exhaust Sound Off: Highest db - 1st 2nd Dyno: Horsepower Hero Top 4 Cylinder - 1st 2nd Top 6 Cylinder - 1st 2nd Top 8 Cylinder - 1st 2nd

  17. At a time where people are looking back on a year, and what's been achieved, I like to reflect on what was a mammoth year for RC, I've been a member here for three years, and I think this year there was a great deal of momentum, the calender was a work of art (thank you Jip) look forward to the 2011 one  there's been an influx of new members, funny posts (read engine hat), however, we/you/them didn't flame him and he sounded like he was learning at least SOMETHING, see that's why I *heart* rollaclub, you feel like you have "ownership" you're a part of it, Thank you admins for making RC feel like a comfy pair of slippers, I know that without your input there'd be a lot more crap to wade through, you're not only admins and moderators, you're mediators and editors too. THANK YOU :P Thank you for reserving this space of the interwebs for all things rolla's (and other associated things we find interesting) Merry Christmas to you and yours, happy motoring through this festive season (and keep safe on the roads).
