  1. E30's really are the slightly better off mans KE70. Paint/body looks terrific, looking forward to following this car.
  2. Pets. Fall in love with the bastards then spend a fortune fixing them or they kick the bucket. Stupid family cat got collected by a car, poor bugger needs it's legged lopped off. $3k vet bill and counting...
  3. Seems to happen to all of these image hosting sites after a few years. Absolutely decimates the usefulness of a lot of forum how-to threads etc. Absolutely sucks.
  4. Looks like a good repair - keep it up!
  5. My diff blew up again recently :D. So I put in the parts that have been sitting around for ages and picked up a T series from Rian that will hopefully last a little longer. Got the sway bar mounts pulled off the old borgy and slapped on the the T series as well. Car now has T3 camber tops and XT130 LCAs. Had it all aligned and the car feels exactly the same as before, I only put on around -0.5 camber so I'm going to up that to -1 to -1.5 as turn in etc is super light at the moment. Also threw in a AJPS panhard rod. Bigger diff and bigger panhard now means my exhaust is fouling a fair bit worse than before so I will have to have it tucked or a new system done. Still looks pretty. Living 100 metres from the beach is finally catching up with the car which is pretty sad. The rear arches now have rust through there a little bit and the bubble I've been watching on the front guard has now split and chipped a little paint. Need the motivation to get on top of it early.
  6. Post up some pics of the boot/wing fitted. Looks infinitely better than the stock boot and wing.
  7. Upgrade is coming for this thing I think. Definitely outgrown the 250! It's been a really faithful daily though and will be for the next learner rider it goes on to!
  8. Digging up an old af thread to say thanks for this. Checking back to basics just saved me time and money.
  9. Are W Series gearboxes more accessible? W58 boxes are a heap stronger too, W series to 4age bellhousing.
  10. Holy ʞ©$ɟ that bronze is awesome!
  11. Finally got off my arse and did something about the leaky distributer seal, it's nice to not have plumbs of smoke not coming out of my grill at the lights. Pretty easy job all in all, the main dizzy shaft seal was as hard as concrete. I did make the mistake of going of forum guides to begin with instead of just using the Toyota Manual, so my timing was way out. Quick reset of everything and she runs terrific. I don't have a press and the dizzy looked to have been rebuilt previously so I left the same bearing on there and just did the seal themselves. The AJPS kit seems to be decent quality seals, will be nice to see how long they last. Arty pic Forgot washers, oops.
  12. Damn 4AGEs can be an awesome looking motor. I went with a Kingchrome torque wrench, been going strong for a couple of years now and is still quite accurate. It's lasting well but doesn't get a crazy amount of use.
  13. If had 45-55k I wouldn't be buying a brand new Mustang and I damn sure wouldn't be putting it in to a E7. I like LittleRedSpirits idea - RA28s are awesome.
  14. Things like this - http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/tweed-heads-south/cars-vans-utes/chev-powered-toyota-crown-sedan/1077171287
  15. Look for dudes on Gumtree for a crane. I hire one from a guy that's local for like $20 bucks every time I need one. Also, I don't know where you're at but if you need a hand, let me know.
  16. No one suggested swearing at it... You swear at it?
  17. Buying a bike has been the worst thing to happen to this poor thing. It just sits there. Makes me sad. Going to start getting it ready for a couple of track days me thinks. Things to do. Re-bush and new ball joints for XT arms Install camber tops with new arms. Firmer springs for rear - may go AJPS setup with adjustable perches Another set of wheels + semis (may get lazy and just run semis on current wheels, not getting much road use after all) Machine rotors and new pads Go fast
  18. Those wheels look so much better. I'm not a fan of the S13 setup at all, it just feels off. It does throw the geometry of the car out after all. I've been pretty happy with the 86 setup in my car - if you look for KE30 arms (identical to xt130) you can pick them up for like 30 bucks, even pulling them out at a wrecker is cheap as chips compared to XT130. These cars are pretty damn easy to get riding well if you don't just chop the springs and run dead shocks. A decent pair of shocks in the rear and some AJPS springs will have you fixed up with the rear end. I run king springs from the front of a celica and KYB Excel G (Cheap as) in the rear of mine and that's held up alright. My rear end cost me like $200 all up and is fine for daily and has seen track days fine. I'll be moving to AJPS springs with better rates and better shocks in the near future. My build thread - http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/67853-bens-4a-ge-ae71/page__st__135__p__694209__hl__+ben%20+ae71#entry694209 has some pics and info in there I think. It really comes down to how much coin you want to spend and what it's going to be used for. AE86 setup with new shocks and springs would be a good option without destroying your bank account. Coilovers aren't necessary for a street car IMO. The above setup would still handle okay and get some low/facebook likes.
  19. Spot on. It was shocking behaviour. Unfortunately I don't have any mates up this end of the country that ride which kind of sucks - I won't be looking at any riding groups anymore, that's for sure.
  20. Nice long ride today, roads were busy as hell. Tagged along with a large group that I came across - was riding with them for maybe 15 minutes, some incredible bikes - pack of ʞ©$ɟing wankers. Cutting people off, excessive speeding, horrible awareness. I heard pack mentality was bad with riders, I hope that's the worst it can be. Quickly went back to solo, bit of a shame. Plenty of people out today along my local bendy roads though, fun to see! Definitely! Any opportunity I get to leave the house, or I just make something up.
  21. Mighty Car Mods are amateurs... that's why they frequently use qualified professional mechanics etc.
