  1. Hello.   A friend of mine owns a ke20 that has a weird problem.
It only make spark when letting go of the key.  When he flips the key to start it there is no spark. But when he lets go of the key there is one spark.    We have checked ignition switch and coil.   Is has a 3kh engine with electrical ignition instead of points.     Any tips?
there is a ballast resistor att the coil.  When he turns the ignition on it shows constant 9v in on the ballast and 7 out to the coil .    Can i try to bypass it to check if the ballast is the problem?

  2. Hello.  So I am currently in the prosess of putting My Ke25 back together after years in a shed.
The problem I am having is that there is a few things that don’t work.   The blinkers, wipers and revers lights don’t work. (Probably more things😂)   But The hazzards work.      If i remember correctly, i have voltage only on 2 fuses in the fuseblock.   Cigarett and something Else i can’t remember.  No power on either side of the fuse for blinkers or wipers.    Where do i start to look?:).  Electricity and wireing is not My strongest side 🤦🏻‍♂️😅

    Hi Rune,

If the white wire is getting hot & melting, when trying to starting the engine, then that would indicate that the white wire is carrying all or part of the very high current the starter motor pulls during cranking.

There are three (3) cables that carry this high current.

    1.  The unfused "heavy duty cable", connected directly between the battery +ve terminal, & the starter motor.

    2.  The earth/ground/chassis heavy cable between the engine block, & the chassis of the car

    3.  The earth/ground/chassis heavy duty cable, between the battery -ve terminal, & the chassis of the car.

Check all of these, & their connections in particular, & you should find the source of your issue.

Let us know how you go.

    Cheers  Banjo

It is fixed now :). I had done a sloppy job with grounding the engine to chassis.    So i made som new cables and added one more, and it seems to be fixed now :)

finally had the first start up :)

  4. Follow up question about the alternator wiring..

I found out where those 3 wires should go on the alternator.  But when i crank the engine over on the starter, the white wire with black stripe get super hot.   One time when i tried cranking the engine over a little to long it burned up, so i had to install a new wire.  Any ideas why?   i can see tojo2 has mentioned that it might be ground. Could it mean that my ground to engine is not good enough?

  5. again, thank  you for all the help.    But i was actually lucky and found a thinner radiator among my parts that fitted the corolla so that problem was a easy fix  :D

But now i have another question.. Can anyone tell me which wire goes where on the alternator?  The connector was destroyed years ago, so I'm just left with lose wires 😅

Here is also acouple of extra photos of my project.  Hopefully get it painted this summer.  106016848_269605687436034_1143461745259659367_n.thumb.jpg.0aa2d8624d623cfc7e813325caced9c9.jpg

  6. Hello. Did the ke20/25 come with different styles of swaybar?   I have a ke25 that I'm installing a 2tg into, and it has a straight swaybar and it seems extremly tight fit.    Had the same engine in a ke20 some years ago with a different swaybar that cleared the oil pan easy.. Do i need to change my swaybar or modify it?   Anyone with ke2x with 2t and straight swaybar that knows if it will fit with some fiddling?

Not mine and old but presumbly accurate.

If you plan to put it in a KE25 it will require substantial cutting down and modification for leaf springs

My TE27 doesn't have drums fitted currently so can't accurately measure for you, but someone I trust has posted up that a KE25 is 1320mm and from memory they are the same.  I believe he then went to the substantial effort of getting a T series cut down properly and engineered here in Australia and it had to be specially offset for some technical reason I didn't understand.

I sourced a couple of TE27 housings from Japan before prices went stupid, but may still be a sensible option if you can find one on yahoo japan.  Will save you a lot if trouble, and probably easier to convert that to discs, than fitting a disc brake housing into KE25

Ok.  I already have a te71 Gt Axle in My Ke25. But I'm not able to measure it today and i can't remember the width :)
I'm starting to wonder if i should go for another stronger Axle.  Maybe a Volvo axle, But Thea are 1370mm wide.    The car is Getting a 2tg turbo that was dynoed at 230rwhp.

or are there any other options for a strong axle that fits the Corolla better? I'm not going for fender flares

  8. Hello:) I'm currently building a ke25 with a 2tg turbo engine.

I will use a t293 Axle from a te71gt.  But This is wider then the ke25 Axle. So My question is, Do i have to run flares or will i be able to tuck some wheels under the fender?

Question 2: Does anyone know if air shocks are available for This car?

quation 3:  Does a ke20 fuel tank fit the  ke25?:)
