  1. nah not yet, havent even touched it since i took that pic, will be buffing it next saturday (2 weeks after paint) might be able to get it all back together this week though
  2. cheers for the replys guys the shocks i have are Holden Station Wagin Brand Kyb Ext: 490 Comp: Approx 290-300mm Product Number: 343113 got them for 150$ or so the falcon springs i have are crappy, way to soft, if you can get some out of a Fairmont or LTD your better off, the model to get is EB-AU i believe, just make sure the springs are about same size as stock springs (bout 5" or so). the newer the car, the better the springs will be.
  3. haha that was funny to read "check out my new car guys" "someone asks question about said car" "STOP ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT MY CAR" sorry. it does look nice though.
  4. well there she is folks check out those awesome lines on the bonnet, they will go away with the buffing! oh and that grill isnt in properly, just kinda held there by gravity! thanks for the reply CATSPEW, dude that is a feral nik name :) suspension....the front was $600 coilovers, $450 LCA's brakes, and with the extra crap needed prolly ended up being about $1200 (shiiite thats alot) rear $150 for good shocks, and 20$ for falcon springs:P wheels are SSR reverse mesh on the rear (15x6.5 +22??), and Rays somethingaruther (some mesh thing) on the front (15x6.5 +20??). i have a full set of the SSR but one needs repair, so I'm gonna get the centres painted silver and polish the lip up one day. thanks for the replys guys!
  5. i think you mean monaro shocks^^ but yes i recommend these as well, cut falcon springs + stock shocks = very bad....bouncy.....bouncy... just get your falcon springs, and cut about 1/3 off, and stick them in, and see how high it is, and if you want lower, then cut a bit more. i did this about 3 times before i got the height i liked. you really need to get fairlane or LTD springs, as the "normal" falcons aren't all that stiff. depends how new you get them i guess.
  6. sure its not just something loose in the engine bay? the top of my air filter was loose for a while (ke70 4k) and it resonated like crazy at about 3500 rpm, took me a while to work out what it was, but just had to tighten it up.
  7. thanks for the kind words fellas!! umm i did about 6 coats of blue paint, and then 3 coats of clear coat (acrylic paint) just have to wait 2 weeks or so to buff it up, i can't wait to see how it looks then
  8. well here she is boys and girls, its a really bad shot, and its not buffed yet, but its all the same color, and super glittery in the sun!!! tell me what you think, i hope you like!!
  9. hey man, always liked the idea of rotory engines, just didnt like any of the cars that they came in, i think youve got a great deal, for 1000$ its awesome, and you will be able to sell of most of the rest of the Rx7 in parts, i hear rx7 parts are very expensive so you might get away with a "free" engine :) just a quick Q, rotary's have their engine mounts at the front I'm pretty sure, how are you gonna go about putting that into a corolla? can you mount it to the radiator support thing? maybe I'm talking crap....
  10. well heres a sneak preview, not quite finished yet
  11. thanks teddy!! the color ive chosen is the blue ke70 metallic (the stock colour), i saw your car...and thought i gota have that colour... can't wait till its all done though!
  12. well its been a while folks! but the respray is in its final stages atm as it stands at the moment its sitting with primer on it all masked up ready for metalic blue and clear coat tomorow! i can't wait to see how it looks with proper paint! ill have more pics up tomorow
  13. well its been a while, so time for an update. i have checked the brakes an no not dragging. my latest figures have been 90km from about 9L or so, which isnt the best, but its alot better than i was getting. so problem seems to be intermitent.... i went nuts with carby cleaner which made it run a little smoother, but not that much difference...
  14. hey folks, I'm from queens land so haven't had the opportunity to cruise around this track. just curious, what is the actual posted speed limit?
  15. haha not that i know of mate!!! might be a someone camping out in the boot....but i haven't noticed anyone lately...:P yeah i still got no idea whats goin on, i went nuts with carby cleaner, and it runs a bit better now, but still havent been able to improve efficiency. i got 70km from 10$ this week (so maybe 8L) so a lil improvement, but still annoying though :D can't wait to get the 4age in there, i wont mind if i use a bit of petrol, at least ill be goin fast ;)
  16. hey man, ae86 panhard rod is the same as ke70, but ke70 one will be easier to find. if you intend on lowering your car, id suggest getting an adjustable one (100$ on ebay, whiteline). since you need a new one as it is... the difference is only a few mm yes, but if you get wheels that sit very close to the rear guards, a few mm can mean the difference between scraping like a bugger, or driving nice and smooth. pluss the new bushes that come with the panhard will make it a little stiffer in the rear. as for the springs, pretty much any falcon from AU down (not the uber old ones, i think its EB-AU) will fit in, as long as the spring is about 6" wide (just measure yours and make sure its the same diameter) AU falcon is the one to get though, as they are the last model that will fit, and therefore will have the newest/best condition springs. try and get springs out of one of the bigger models, is it fairmont?. the one used for limo's and stuff. they are stiffer springs than standard falcons. i got some springs from a 1989 falcon (whatever model that is) and they are waaayy to soft. <--- just some trivia hope this helps last note: before you do anything, go and buy a hydraulic jack, and some jack stands. best thing you can buy for your car :D
  17. hey matt, thanks for the kind words! yeah i think it might have been easier if i had the proper T18 rear bumper bracket things, but ohh well, its on now, and looking shiny :D and yeah paint is next, then 4age at end of year in uni holidays!! then it should be finished bah who am i kidding, it will never be finished ;)
  18. UPDATE!!!! lest just say the rear bumper was a MISSION!!! heres a couple of pics of what we had to make up to get it to fit on this is using the stock bumper and modifying the crap out of it ok heres some pretty pics of the mess we made... comment away! edit: that toyo sticker is worth like 5kw, and believe me...its worth it
  19. hey thanks for the replys guys, i might hit up the wreckers for a complete 4k carby complete with ALL emissions stuff, just to make sure its not the silly 3k carby, maybe the 3k carby is stuffed... 7.3L/100....ohh man i woudl die for that:P ....hyperthetically of course interestingly enough, i used to have good fuel economy, and i havent changed anything since then (maybe 4 months ago till now) which also makes me think it might be the carby getting worse....or wearing out maybe? i dunno..
  20. hey man thanks heaps for your offer, but I'm in Brisbane unfortunately so might be a little difficult.
  21. yeah the reason i got a 3k carby was cause the guy before me had ripped all the emissions stuff off the 4k carby, and just blanked off all the pipes. and to cut a long story short it barely ran. i read that a 3k carby was exactly the same as a 4k carby except it had no emissions stuff. can someone confirm this? i would use a 4k carby (as i have 2 of them) but i don't have all the emissions stuff to go with it, all the pipes and little valve things. so there are vacume leaks galor, and i dunno which ones you can block off and which ones you can keep etc etc
  22. hey thanks for the replys guys. old corolla bloke --> i must admit i drive like a grandma most of the time, barely rev over like 3.5k. (you prolly think I'm lying, but I'm not). i find the 4k to be extremely slow, and that it needs a fair bit of accelerator to get it going sometimes, even just to get into gaps in traffic. so i guess i may use a bit to much acceleration, maybe my engine is lacking power because of some problem? (I'm not trying to sound like a lil punk trying to get 400hp from his 4k, but this engine struggles to spin the wheels in the wet with 195's is completely hopeless at drifting, pretty much just bogs down as soon as you give it load..is this normal for a 4k? with my decent suspension i would have thought it would spin wheels enough to have fun, by the way all these "tests" were carried out on the skidpan) ignition components are all fine as far as i can see, i have timing set to 10deg BTDC, i havent even looked at the tapets, i checked air filter and it apperas to be ok, although i might get a new one next time I'm at the shops, the choke isnt sticking, it did a few months ago but i fixed that coln72 I'm not sure if the needle and seat are sticking open, i wouldn't really know how to check, it would involve pulling carby apart I'm assuming? I'm considering doing a minor tune up on the thing, getting some new spark plugs, air filter, and goin crazy with carburetta cleaner, reckon that would help?
  23. ahh yeah thats a good point, ill get the compressor goin and give it a blast, i havent looked at my rubber fuel lines, but thats another option. one thing i have noticed is that if i leave the engine idling for aaagess, it does start to over fuel i think...burbles and carries in untill you give it a rev up the street. so i dunno what that means...
  24. thanks mate! yeah its starting to look the part. thanks to beerhead i should have some 8kg springs for the front soon, that will make the ride a bit nicer, anyone wanna buy some 11kg JIC springs:P
  25. hey mate thanks for the reply, thats one thing i havent looked at. i have noticed a slight fuel smell about my engine bay..might be something to look into
