  1. Cut down a h190 nissan diff. Lotsa good ratios, LSD's and very strong. Or Mazda E-series van..... 240hp at the wheels? Thats 320hp at the fly.... Good luck.
  2. Owning the Sigma was the most traumatic eight months of my life. On the 2.6 Astrons, you can actually set your watch to the exact time of when the head will crack. Mine had that many it looked like a road map. I used to keep a bottle of chemiweld in the car for when the last bottle gave up. (I could do this operation roadside in the middle of the night, I got that good...). It scarred me that badly that it has taken 12 years for me to own another Mitsubishi. Obsessed by Sigma's? You can get ointment for that. There are far better first cars out there. They're also starting to get a bit old now, too. Having said that, they're a far better car than the early Magna's. They were a monumentally crap vehicle. :ninja: No, I'm not a fan. They have their place, just not in my driveway.
  3. Try old school L18 1800cc with side draught Webers! I don't care what anyone says, but there is no better sound on this planet than twin webers at around 7000 rpm. Preferably heard in a forest, preferably at night. No modern car gets close. If I could bottle the noise and sell it, I'd be rich (and my own best customer!).
  4. I'm running the Dwarf for this year, as it'll probably take twelve months to build the new one. after that i don't know. May sell it, may retire it and sell parts. Dunno really. May build the new one and hate it. Fook: Datgirl's new car turned up from Perth yesterday, and it is gooooood! It's almost enough to turn me to the dark side.....
  5. Road going: 1982 TF Gemini 1984 GJ Mitsubishi Sigma 1990 VN Commodore Wagon (First of the tow cars!) 1976 HJ Holden One Tonner 1996 VSII Commodore Wagon 2003 Mitsubishi Pajero. Others: 1971 KE25 Toyota Corolla. The Redwarf. Longest I've ever owned a car. 11 years. Closest to that is the Tonner which I had for 4 years. 2 x 1967 Isuzu Belletts, originally for Targa purposes, but never quite got there. About 5 or 6 Corollas of various ages and models for wrecking purposes.
  6. I think a head is around the $180 to 200 mark, plus springs. I don't know, I haven't paid full price for one in a while.... (Caution: Sponser Plug) Try Frawley's in Redcliffe, they do all my work. Ask for Bob. :ninja:
  7. mine was done by Camshaft Engineering (should be in the White Pages), consider doing a head at the same time, to match the valve springs, that way you will get most benefit.
  8. Redwarf= Rob KE25; in bits getting ready for next season... :ninja:
  9. Certainly would be. Must find $3k and get it past the wife. It's worth about $6k to $8k new. Mmmmm proflex...... I have your goods, ready for your collection. $170. Cheers R
  10. Sorry Guys, have to punt the sponser! I have Pedders front and rear and love'm. Looking at Proflex for the new car though. $3000 for a set in Canberra! :ninja: Having said that, just remember, you get what you pay for. Bitumen: Koni's. Dirt: Bilsteins. Pay the money and be supremely happy. Or any Pedders product. :)
  11. Another way to do it is to buy a $50 4K, strip it, build it and change them over at your leisure...
  12. Should be able to get it at Repco in Virginia, my second home...
  13. My money is on Fook. The Guy's built like a racing whippet, which has to be good in a cart.... :)
  14. Don't like the colour of the rooflining? Haven't you guys discovered the wonders of vinyl paint?? It's upholstery in a can!! :greenclap: R
  15. Yes I still have that head. It's completely bare, no valves, springs, guides; anything. Ive got it as a spare, although it'd be no good for the current engine as the pistons would hit the head. Really reluctant to part with it though.
  16. Taking .035" off the head (total .040") will make it better, and in future you can still take more off. My old head (the one I prepared earlier :) ) had around .090" taken off it. the most I've heard of is .125", but that was a bit berserk. If anyone wants a twin pipe manifold, I have one loitering downstairs. Stand by for a fire sale. New project coming. Cheers R
  17. No problem with the manifold, just give me a call to see if I'm in. The reason the old guy wasn't in is because he's in Tasmania co-driving for Ed Ordynski in the Tassie ARC round. As one does. They're both very good. If in doubt, I have spare manifolds.... Cheers R
  18. Hmmmm... now who might you be that you would know the knowledgable Mr. Moll and son?? Cheers R
  19. Bob the Builder said you'd passed through. He seems a bit busy at the mo, I went up there to see if he'd do a 2 litre esky motor for me and was promptly told to "speak to the hand"! After Christmas for that one then. I've got Melindas motor there, too. The Guys at Carb-tech are top notch, too. Did you speak to the older guy with glasses or the younger guy? Cheers, R
  20. Saturday, say oneish?? PM me for an address. If nothing else it'll be good for a chinwag...... Cheers R
  21. Thanks for the pic Fook! :blinks: Hmmmm. It looks like Pete's raised the Corolla a touch. It used to be loooooow. That cars still for sale for the right money, too. Cheers R
  22. Hey Fook, I've been hearing stories about you...... Sounds like you had a fat day, well done!! :greenclap: Cheers R
