  1. hey mad idea to do a welding post, i have tried to learn about welding but there isnt too much on the net, i did have one good mig site though. id like to learn mig cos arc/stick welding doesnt work too well on thin metal and its hard for 1st timers.
  2. hehe.... he has an exhaust for a 13b peripheral port that was in a ke35 with nos too! now there's some drivability issues, and an 11 second pass! as for everyday driving lol, so true. so many people think they can have a 10 second car and a daily driver in one car :P
  3. i think the ke35 is borderline on weight for a 2L forced induction, errrr runs off........ um um ok got the book, ok weight is stated at 864kg 864 x 2.5 for forced induction = 2160cc :P ke25 is 756kg and 1890cc forced induction limit. so ke35 is a bit heavier but there are so many 2L turbo motors to drop into it! i take it you didnt enjoy replacing seals every few months? a pp 13b would have hauled! so how come you chose sr20?
  4. yes it has to be a sealed system, just a filter on the rocker cover and there will be oil all over the place!
  5. ok so the bolt on ones are fine as mentioned, i got quoted about 400 for a full set. your original wheels were probably 13x5 with 70 profiles or something similar, so the 15's with low profile 50 rubber or around that combination will be the same size as your original wheels. only thing to watch is as rim size goes up so can the width in some cases, so as long as the wheel is going to fit nicely under the guard and has the correct offset for its width it will all work. if it is only just rubbing you can roll the guards all round for 50 a corner. try google hyundai elantra pcd offset etc to find more info
  6. so the wheels are fwd then, the offset will not suit rwd, fwd offset is usually very positive, but you could use floating spacers - illegal though or bolt on spacers which may be illegal i dunno.
  7. i can't see the reason to use them as indicators really, for brake lights yes because they are instantly on and light up when doing 100km /hr 4 meters or so before the filament ones light up. they are pricey though last time i checked and they will blow just as easily as the filament ones with any circuitry faults. they are brighter i would imagine but meh filament ones are fine. i see if you change the faulty circuit with the led one then it would solve the problem of the faulty circuit though.
  8. choke....... nissan :) hehehe rb is a big motor to fit into a small bay too. for ca's there are many ca18det aftermarket parts and performance bits are common and not too expensive etc the 3tgte has many easy and economical performance upgrades and it toyota tough. it is sometimes hard to get parts for though but doesnt break as often as other tempermental engines. the bonus with buying older engines is that they don't have billions of gizmos and goodies to make it run, although older engines it can be a pain to find some parts due to their rarity.
  9. regarding the normal flasher units, they often stick, ie don't flash on and off just flash on and stay on,. in the early toyotas the units can be fixed, its the contact points of the flasher that become pitted and worn so the contacts are not the right distance apart. this can be fixed as best as possible by filing the mounded point smooth and bending the arm a bit. thought of adding solder to the pitted contact too but havent as of yet.
  10. yeah, costing more than those $700 dollar cheapo chrome bling bling packages but probably not more than a decent set of racing rims like superlites etc. cheers for the r31 backspace info! i checked out a few sets and downloaded a few pics of them, its nice they are 15x6 and 114.3x4pcd but the spokes have a solid back, looks terrible. and they hit the strut, i'll stick to my mz10 soarer rims :) thinking of starting a picture thread of stock alloys that will fit toyotas, with the specs : size x width, offset and pcd, for people to put pics / specs up.
  11. don't start with the 18's, lets conserve bandwidth hey.
  12. had a leaky clutch master cylinder and was topping it up regulary until i could get a replacement. i was driving around one dark night far from home and the clutch pedal went dead as the fluid ran out. i had no clutch fluid on me and no phone or money either. so i was going to piss in a bottle and fill it up, so i went across to this building to take a leak but then i saw a tap on the side of a building and filled it up with water. i should have used radiator fluid cos it has corrosion inhibitor but car was hot so i couldnt, the master was rusted to say the least!
  13. heard a story somewhere about a old racq mechanic who was called out to a broken down mercedes back in the day and he found out the rotor was stuffed so he made a rotor from a cork, a thumb tack and a bit of wire.
  14. well they are just plain rims... i think they are very functional because they come in many sizes and widths but obviously plain, I'm sure they come in a few stud patterns but most would be holden commodore. cutting and welding rims errr would cost more than a set of bling rims! maybe try get trailer wheels? they are obviously plain rims and probably come in many stud patterns / sizes / widths / offsets. thats one thing to consider, even if the commodore ones are the correct stud pattern, the offset may be wrong for your car and depending on what width you want (that will fit) will determine what offset you require see jamies post on the backspace. the backspace has to stay pretty much the same. the offset changes relative to the width of wheels you want to make the backspace stay the same. so once you know the width you want you can work out the offset you need.
  15. um well do you know what kind of lsd it is, cos there are so many so you need to look for the specific type of lsd wear/condition etc. a lot of secondhand lsds are worn, anyway most wreckers give a 3 month warranty on parts, so fit it, test it and if it doesnt work bring it back asap!
  16. well id check its a lsd for sure by rotating the hubs to make sure its not a normal diff, then see what mechanical condition is like as best as possible... check it rotates smoothly with minimal play of the gears, no chunks of metal inside, cleanish oil, teeth don't have scores or gouges or chunks missing... maybe someone else can be more specific but there are many types of lsd so you need to be looking for more specific details depending on type.
  17. yes indeed : cheap, fast, reliable - pick two.
  18. none of them.......... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaste of good money. and definately not matched to the era of the car. and more $custom$ drilling IF the offset is correct and they are redrilled, then you will be buying liquiorice straps for the rest of your days. then they are probably illegal anyway, is the diameter within 10% or whatever your regulations are? then on top of that some scum steals them one lonely night. oh well everyone has there own taste! :)
  19. custom made for $50 hahhahaha!! don't get me started lol. unless your 50 has 10 of its friends hiding underneath you will never get them custom made, ie c $ u $ s $ t $ o $ m. anyway, they are common secondhand and fairly cheap, i have seen them from $50 to $200. right now on www.toymods.org.au you can pick up a set for 120 in brisbane. good luck!
  20. err not exactly the performance engine the 4ye... why not do a straight swap for a 4k and do a some research on better engines, its like modifying a charade engine to fit in your corolla only to realise that it cost you more than a 4ag swap!!
  21. i'll talk to my bank manager.... but seriously if you don't end up using the car or want to sell it, i would be interested in buying it, i have a 2 door ke30 with all the running gear, just a shabby body really, and it would be easier to swap than fix... well keep the thought, see how you go.
  22. there are heaps of sika products for all types of applications and other brands too sikaflex is very popular.
