  1. Thats a real nice thought and if i get it finished by then I will but i don't wanna set deadlines only to be disappointed. haha you know how it is!!
  2. I Have not been doing much good stuff recently just mainly seam welding like in the pics and trying to find some solution to finding some bushes and stuff. more to come though!!
  3. Man if its any consolation I had the most overrated, original, granny-spec Datsun 1600 ever http://ozdat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=15283 and as you can see i bought all this stuff for it ready for a conversion and i even did a voting poll. But I couldn't put an angle grinder to it because it was way to overrated. So i decided to sell it before i damaged it just to keep the poor thing from original. Now you've got an awesome base project without regret to experiment, and people wont be pushing there opinions on you. Oh and at least you will be able to find bushes and easier upgrades coz my ke10 is extinct in every auto shop i need parts from. But you gotta have a thread for the 20 man.
  4. Yep making a bolt up frame is probably how i will do it then i can just take it off when i got to register it! As i said it will only be a cruiser but not to delicate at that. if i were going to 500rwhp then i would consider a roll and all but this should be sufficient. Thnaks for all the help Nemisis. you will find me experimenting on this after i have finished all the seam welding! Go to http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=35377 and you can head me in the right direction or what ever! Do you know of any sites that have any kit information!?
  5. So in the picture above is the left and the right side of the chassis connected or are they two separate pieces? and are they legal?
  6. Those chassis connectors i have heard of and they look about what i want. i just couldnt find any info! is there a reference page on the net or anything. I just need some sort of an idea to develop on myself! Oh btw how does this go against regulatios and all that bullsh*t! I don't really want a half cage because I'm sure that you have to register your car without rear seats!
  7. My corolla is a primed shell at the moment which is the perfect time to mess around with the body. I'm wanting around about 300rwhp but a chassis stiff enough to support it so it wont twist or warp an launch! I have already started to seam weld and I'm going to make some strut tower braces and get sway bars! I think that it should be enough for what i want, and I'm trying to avoid using a roll cage because its overkill for my application and i want the car to be a cruiser not a drag car. Can i have some opinions about the seam welding, strut braces and sway bar, will they be enough do you think? or if there is any way of making the chassis stronger without a roll cage. Thanks boys!! ( sorry if there is previous thread about this, but i did a search and nothing)
  8. haha hmmm bit out of my budget now....
  9. Well depending on how much you do your self: Sleeve Kit $300 Welding $20 Paint $25 Ke20 Pedders Shocks $300 for both $645 all up i think is great for performance coilovers when you consider the cost of manufactured ones!
  10. Finished Product!! I tried to rotate the pic but it wouldn't work for me!! you get the idea though!!
  11. Coil-overs are finished!!!!! Got them welded up for $20 now i just gotta get all my bushes and they will go back on. I couldn't be happier with them!!
  12. Ken, I will register this car shortly, its funny how i thought all these ke10s would be the exact same but this differs from my other one heaps. I will get in touch with you soon, maybe over the break and you can check them out... need that trim and stuff aswell!!!!!! Philbey, I wanted to get the lowest spring rate possible just because the ke20 shock seemed alot stiffer than the stock ones, and they are adjustable anyway. I think they will be a great improvement without being to solid. We will soon find out. COULD ANY BODY WITH KE10 PANELS OR BUMPERS PLEASE CONTACT ME BY PM...
  13. I just got my self another Ke10, unlicensed but i'm hoping to license it soon. Has a fresh new coat of white two pack. Its a Two speed auto Glide. This will be an original resto i think. so now i got two cars on the go haha. But heres what she looks like..... (There's A couple shots of me out of petrol on reid hwy and i had my camera handy.)
  14. The kit cost me a total of $317 that includes postage to perth. They mount exactly as you say...
  15. Yep the ke20 insert goes in all sweet but you need the guide rod thing on the old oil shocks to space out the top about 20 mm. I'm so happy with my combo. The hopper stoppers brakes next..
  16. The 48mm kit is the PERFECT fit. The sleeves fit over my strut like it was made for it. The Struts Still Have to be painted though!!
  17. New New Coil-overs Hopefully to be welded on this weekend.....
  18. Over the past couple of weeks i have en researching and deciding on what front end setup up i will go following closely to a couple of threads on here. So this is what i have come up with, Front shocks: Pedders Ke20 inserts (Ordered for Monday) Springs: Otomoto Coilover sleeve kit 4kg/mm springs (Paid For) Brakes: Hopper Stoppers Kit (Will Purchase this week) Just to clarify Do i have to order the early model corolla kit but when i asked hopper stoppers if they would fit a ke10 they weren't to sure due to them coming out with drums. Can any body confirm this before i get them. I'm sure its the right one because you can put the ke20 disks on the ke10 so i don't see what the difference is. Not much more at but I'm hoping in 2 to 3 weeks time the whole front end setup will be done and the rear is next!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Can you make sure you post the measurements up because the only thing stopping me from buying the kit is knowing what diameter ones are the best for my ke10 and the weight of springs I'm gona use.
  20. There wasn't much rust at all in the car. there are a few small holes from where the body trim has been sitting and a there is a water trap at the beginning of the rear wheel arches under the body but i'm going cut it right off, sand blast it, rust convert it, re weld and prime again. I have been given a really good shell with minimal rust but most of the panels are bogged like hell. i would rather have the body perfect anyway because you can always track panels.
  21. WOOHOOOO more progress. I used a marine grade epoxy primer throughout the entire car. i still have bits of rust to cut out but i didn't want the bare metal to be sitting there for too long. feel free to leave feedback guys!!!
  22. On friday we thought we might just tidy up the front end and all it cost me was a carton!!! I got a few cool shots in the process. THe car is now being primed on monday because we found a bit of rust i want to cutout..
  23. yeah ,the stud pattern isn't a worry for me but being already being the one i want to use is a bonus!
  24. Well I'm coming to the stages now where i want to source a diff and get all me under body parts sorted. Now i have three options 1. VS SS or VN SS 2. Borg Warner 3. Hilux At the moment I'm keen on the ss diff because i know of somebody who has one in there SR Ke20 and it works well for him and it also has the stud pattern i want to run. But tell me your suggestions and hopefully i will have a good idea on what i'm gonna get. Oh and not forgetting its going to be supporting a 4agte!!!!
  25. Cheers boys, its good to share the passion... well there hasnt been a huge amount of progress in the past few days besides more paint stripping and thank god I'm at the last stages of that. The next big part is going to happen next friday when the bloke across the road will be firing up his sandblaster to clean up the firewall and little spots of rust and hopefully if there is enoughlight left in the day to have everything sprayed in primer! But there are a few things i need to have done like Make sure all the paint is off and Undercoat the car in that black shit. Oh and as you can see in the picture that is why i need a new fender haha!!
