  3. So I've recently become extremely lucky in finding a very clean ADM ae86, It does however come with a 4ac. My plan is to eventually engine swap it but I was looking for more power than a standard 4age (If this came with a 4age i'd 100% keep it with the 4age, but since it comes with a 4ac I feel less guilty about swapping it)I've put together a small port 16v 4age in a ke70 (sitting around 120whp) and that thing was wicked fun but I've been bit by the power bug. My main question is should I swap in a gen 5 beams (eventually getting ITBs) or turbo a 4agze, my main ballpark power figure is around 200-250whp and yes I know most beams tend to already come stock 200ish but what would be more cost effective? getting a turbo 4agze to 250whp or a beams to 250whp (staying NA), I'm not poor but I'm also not drowning in cash, I have around a 10k budget and plan to do most of the work myself besides the wiring and tuning as Ive had engine swap experience already. The main purpose of the car is to be a semi daily (2-3 times a week) and track is 3-4 times a year. This will not be a DRIFT specific car but I would like to take it the occasional event for some fun. Ive heard of some dirty 4agze turbos hitting the 300-400hp mark so I'm wondering what it would take for hit 250, also ive heard some cases of beams hitting 240ish with just itbs so I'm very conflicted ahah, If you were in my position already with a car and a 10k budget which of the 2 options would you consider (I've got my heart set on a 4 cylinder Toyota engine so any other engine swaps Id rather stay away from such as sr20s, v6s and v8s) Again I know I'm not being very specific on power but I'd be fine with just 200 flat whp but if there is room in the budget getting between 200 and 250 I'd do it. Thanks for taking your time to read I've also attached a photo of the car ahah
  4. I bought this KE70 october last year (2015), and tought id make a build thread now. Its been a year and i have done some modifications to it. Gotten a lot of help looking at different threads here on Rollaclub, so thougt i'd just publish it. A little warning tho, I'm not a professional mechanic and I'm kinda learning as i go, I've had mopeds that I've worked on and a bmw that i kept ''hellastock''. So yeah I've gradually moved on to what in my eyes are more difficult things. And i have gotten a lot of help from my father who is a mechanic. Thought id just make a fast foward in pictures and some comments from when i bought it to where it sits now. Bought it like this, from a 60-70 year old man who inherited the car when his father died 10 years ago. it had 63 000kms on it. It has some body rust as far as i can see, the previous owner did some not that good rust repair with fiberglass, sikaflex and non color coded silver paint  Drove it home, here parked next to my bmw i had at the time. An acquaintance of mine had some typically ''Jdm rims'' that i could try on the car, many of them were too wide but there were some ssr mesh that seemed like a good size. The car seemed even higher on these wheels, in the second picture he jumped into the trunk. :P Thought it looked a lot better now tho :D Had a little fun :laff: Stock 4k-C painted the top of the airfilter Changed the steeringwheel and added some other bits, the keychain thingy turned out to be super annoying so i took that down. And i changed the original radio for a more modern Pioneer with aux :) Winter hit! :D Ssr's are off and stock winter wheels are on And it hit harder.... got some rust over this winter, In the winter theres a lot of salt on norwegian roads  Never had any problems starting in the morning tho! Decided to remove the black trim along the sides of the car. Looked better in my opinion, but some of the glue is stil on the car, havent gotten some of it off yet. In the front some glue even ripped the paint off 8S This one might get a little hate.. but i changed the rear muffler, its not too loud idling and on lower rpm, but is way too laud on higher, gonna install another muffler in front of it afterwards. Wanted speakers in the rear too, the original material behind the seats were way too thin to hold two speakers, so i made a new plate out of wood, after the picture was taken i stapled black cloth around it, looks lowkey. sad I don't have a picture of that. I ended up buying those Ssr's and got them powdercoated in candy red, when the light hit them at the correct angle they glow :) On the car Wanted to lower it so i bought a complete suspesion from another ke70, thinking I'd just chop that set, never liked the idea of chopped springs tho. But then a coilover set for a carina TA60 popped up and i bought them, very bad condition tho. Installed some fender mirrors and made a bracket for where the old mirrors sat. Also got myself a lip, The lip is powdercoated so it's not the same color nor metallic, but it was free I'm probably going to paint the whole car afterwards anyway :) The coilovers got sandblasted and had ordered some ae86 5.1kg rear springs from technotoytuning and some kyb ae86 schock inserts for the coilovers. All of it is getting powdercoated black for the max stealthyness :D Ran into a problem with the shock inserts, the ae86 schocks were a bit longer than the TA60, we ended up cutting out the bottom of the tube and welding it in further down. And that meant installing it was next, me and my father did this over a weekend :) got some rear Koni adjustable rear shocks for the te71 for the rear. And had to buy new calipers becouse it just wouldnt be cheaper to rebuild the original ones. Old vs new rear springs Coilover refurbished Back and front wheelwells now Lowered in the rear, got an original Hella grill straight from the 80's :D Lowered onto the ground had to roll the rear fenders, a lot. :D This is how it sits now, the car got really stiff and the original seats just bounce you around, so i went ahead and bought a k sport seat. Its used but it seems to be in okey condition and i got new seat rails :) haven't figured out how to mount it yet tho, the KE70 have a wierd way to mount the orinial seat. So if anyone have done that before and have any tips about that id apreciate it :)
  5. Hey Guys, just wondering if any of you have done any coil-over/suspension upgrades in your KE30/35's that are recommended. Also wondering what amount of work would need doing putting in AE 82/92/86/101/111 coils in a KE35 as I am interested in upgrading handling and lowering the car. Thanks All.
  6. Just wandering what tyres people have been using for drift, how long did they last?, how much power were you running?, psi?, did they delam? and were they ran backwards? (directional tyres) and of course the cost per tyre and how they performed! slippery or grippy, predictable at speeds etc. and also what front tyres do you run for a bit of grip! cheers! :dancetall: :dancetall: :dancetall:
  7. I've got a set of Ae86 struts that have been converted into coilovers but I'm not happy with the quality. Essentially I want to replace the cut and welded stock tube with a new not-welded tube with a nice new gland nut thread cut in the top (threads damaged currently). The strut tube doesn't appear to be welded to spindle casting, so I was wondering if anyone had tried removing it with a bit of heat. I'd like to know before I go ripping the suspension out of my car preferably. Thanks
  8. could i manage to slot a aurion v6 into my ke70 and still be able to keep the handling characteristics? and keep it street registered? rego isnt a must, but handling is. i like to be little different. I'm pretty sure a drifter slotted one into his ae86 and had his car featured in PI magazine
  9. Hey, I am currently following Will Parsons for his FD rookie year. Here are 2 videos I have made this season so far. Enjoy. To see more go to: http://facebook.com/cultureclashmedia http://cultureclashmedia.com http://vimeo.com/66694221 http://vimeo.com/68293796
  10. So here's my first AE86. I've had KE70's and a T18 before, but not a hachi. So it's either a Dec 83 or a Jan 84 build (not sure) zenki Levin. Bought it for $1400 full of holes where rust had been cut out. It had no panels on it but came with everything minus a drivers door. The hatch that came with it was cut to bits so I went and got a TRD one with no rust for $200. Trailered it 300kms home pulling it with an R30 Skyline (that only overheated once through the hills) and left it overnight still strapped to the trailer. The next day I started just bolting stuff on, seeing how it all looked so I can decide on a paint colour and start welding/sanding/priming. Anyway, here's some photos. How it came: All packaged up as a DIY kit. Waterproofed with bubble wrap, a plastic bag, and the tail lights taped on. Bolting stuff on: Front starting to come together. Wing looks pretty tough. So total expenditure so far: Car: $1400 Hatch + Spoiler : $200 Total : $1600 If you include fuel and trailer hire, it comes closer to $1800. Plans are to finish putting it together for now, decide on what I want to do with it, get the 4AC running, then strip it, weld, prime, paint, take it over the pits, get her rego'd, then slammed on longchamps and use her as a daily.
