Roof Rack Recommendations?

Recommended Posts

Afternoon,

I have recently bought a 2003 Corolla Conquest Wagon (ZZE122R) and so far so good.

I'd like to put on some roof racks to carry light loads (bikes or cargo pods) and so far shops have been offering removable versions (from Rola and Rhino) that latch on to the roof under the door seals.

Has anybody had any experience with these and would know what happens to the paint job when you finally remove them?

Also, how do the door seals survive being pushed out of place all the time? Does it quicken their destruction?

Any idea how these removable racks compare to those that are permanently riveted into the roof?

Any recommendations on brands or models?

Enough questions for now,

Cheers,

Brendan

Generally there's a rubber pad that goes between the rack and the roof, so it doesn't scratch. We've had Thule removeable racks on the SXV10 for years now, and not one mark. And having the door seals squashed won't mean anything, they're squashed when the door is closed anyway. That's what seals do.

Excellent.

I won't expect any problems.
