Ok i need some help and advice firstly i need tp track down a 5k motor for the beast i have been ringing around some places in Melbourne but seem to be coming up short so if anyone knows of a place where i can get one woud be realy helpful :y:

secondly i need to upgrade the brakes i want to go discs of course but want to know the easiest way of going about it i don't want to cut up the car in any way as at some stage i may want to fully restore it back to factory (which wont be for a while its being built for fun :bash: )

also would like some feedback on my idea for paint i am going with white but am thinking of getting ghost flames done (only because my best mate does airbrush work and has been hangung to flame one of my cars)

discs is easy and no cutting up of the car required cos you can just use the struts from a 20 and they bolt right in as far as I know but a little modification may be needed for steering to be all straightened up and I understand you will need a sway bar to stiffen things up a little too. I'm sure I will quickly be corrected if I'm wrong.

As for painting it white with some ghosted flames :bash:

Does anyone no where i can get a new dash pad from or anyone that can make one its the only part of my interior that i can't do myself ;)

I recovered my own dash once a 1968 holden very similar shape to yours.

Looks like its a pretty easy dash to cover, maybe if you can not find a good dash give recovering it a go yourself.

I've given up on finding a decent dashpad and am getting a custom one made. Just getting padding over the dash then vinyl fitted. Should cost ~$300.

If you put the effort getting the base smooth with filler padding etc the vinyl will stretch around and you wont be able to tell its been recovered.

as you can see from the pic i don't have alot to work with

it literally fell apart after i removed the screws so the main part is intact but the rest of the foam is still stuck to my dash

so you think i could take this to a trimmers or would i need to find a specialist of some sort ;)

this place has been really helpful you guys are ace

will get some progress pics up soon :y:

Hey mark, just read your thread and i got to say this is one neat corolla. Good work on picking her up in such good condition.

I got know idea about your dash, I'll try though.. How about pulling it out, getting a trusty angle grinder or belt sander and get the raised cracked sections down flat. Then go to Clark rubber, get some foam (4 or 5mm thick), Staple it down with a staple gun, Then get some black vinyl (mock up leather) and wrap it up and stable it down under where you wont see it. I don't know if that will work but just an idea.

Heey here is an idea are you free :P

I almost forgot about posting here. I have never done that before but it sounds good in theory.

Maybe someone who has done this before can tell you or me if it will work or not?
