B-Rad Posted October 13, 2009 Author Report Posted October 13, 2009 Thanks heaps. The Manual is very helpful if only I could get a kit to stand the engine up straight. Thanks B-Rad Quote
KE55PIG Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 A guy on ebay says his head has had 3ml out of exaust and intake ports is this even possible ? its a 4k head done buy somewhere called super flow hes calling it a race head but 3ml that possible ?? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Link to add? I can't find it. Would probably be 3mm total diametre. so the side walls of the ports have only had 1.5mm taken off them which is entirely possible. Quote
KE55PIG Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 (edited) http://cgi.ebay.com.au/toyota-corolla-ke20...id=p3286.c0.m14 theres a pic of the head there aswell i may have miss read it not sure Just to add to this does anyone no of some were wich does cheap headwork ive been qouted 700 for head to be faced with 1ml taken of and a light port and polish i think this is redicolous Edited October 14, 2009 by KE55PIG Quote
Taz_Rx Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 Read it right, just miss-undertsood what it meant. Yeah It'll be 3mm total. Doesn't say anything about bigger valves though so the bigger ports are sort of just going to waste. $700 is rediculous. I got a re-face and some porting done last year for under $400!! Quote
KE55PIG Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 yea thats what i thought thats y I'm looking for a used head with work done on it Quote
Felix Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 I've done a few heads now. Costs about $100 to get a 3 angle valve job and the head skimmed if you supply a clean disassembled head with only the valves sitting in it. Porting can be done easily yourself with the aid of a cheap dremel and a few hours work. I don't worry so much about enlarging the ports. Moreso a good tidy up. Remove the casting marks in the ports, narrow down the valve guide bosses, smooth the rough casting marks just above the valve seats, and blend the shortside radius into the seats. Invest in some books by A. Graham Bell and David Vizard. Great stuff for hands on engine building and tuning. Quote
KE55PIG Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 100 thats hell good would be worth me sending my head to there and post it back insted of paying 700 Quote
philbey Posted October 14, 2009 Report Posted October 14, 2009 I had this head port matched to a redline twin sidedraft manifold. Ports are about 32mm across, which is about 5mm meat taken out of them (don't quote me) 150 bucks with a light facing. Possible mate of a mate discount Quote
