Ke10-20 Engine Mounts

While sorting out my dummy engine for my 5kte setup I realized my engine mounts were both broken.

I am having big trouble trying to get the through "makay's" or "kelpro". Makay have one side but not the other(I'm not buying one and having to make the other)

Just wondering if anyone knows of any other suppliers of these that would be great.

Just trying to use all posibilities before I decide to make em.

Stu, let me guess, the LHS mount was cactus as?

I have the same problem, I reckon the extra grunt of my 5K is killing them prematurely. Fortunately, you can get LHS items but you can't get RHS ones. You can also get gearbox ones.

I got Raven to chase it up through his work with no luck. So if there's a solution out there, I'm also all ears.

Yep left one is fairly torn and the right one ain't far behind it. I checked them when I had the motor out doing the sc/efi setup and they were perfect, so i reused them. I've probably done maybe 2500kms if I'm lucky and this result.

But I still have to say that they would have been well over 15 years old though. I'll let you know if decide to make a set or two. If well worked and low boost 5k's are braking em frequently then what hope does the new setup have.

Thanks for the link parrot I can't believe I missed em and cheap too. I had thought I'd clicked for international sellers. I even google searched them.

You can use the ke30 LH mount. Uprights the engine a couple of degrees and raises it a little too. It may also have a head shield.

That's good to know. Which will mean if I use that I'll have to grab em before I fabricate manifolds and dump pipe from the turbo. I wonder if tazrx has mount issues. Ke30 ones are the same as ke-55. It's starting to look like I might just make some indestructible ones and see if I can get a bit more room for the turbo too. Win win. But ill keep everyone in the loop if I do.

hold on a second, have you actually tried this or are you repeating what others on the RC have said (it's been mentioned a few times). I tried to do this when I dropped the 5K in and it doesn't work. Can't remember why, but it was enough of a problem that I went back to KE1x units.

I've got a ke20 right hand and a ke30 left hand in my 20. The mounts sit half way down in the slots rather than all the way at the bottom. The engine moved about an inch upwards and rolled to the right a few degrees. It gave me enough room to fit the sidedrafts with 40mm trumpets. I can't see why it would be much different in the ke1#...

hmmm Interesting. There are a few differences, namely the KE10 is quite a bit tighter in the engine bay, in particular drag link/idler arm/x member/tunnel and firewall clearances are all smaller.

I didn't try fit them exhaustively as I had a set of KE10 mounts anyway, but I tried and it certainly seemed to be a no go. I'll pull her motor out one day and I'll have another crack then.

Long and short is, you're the first person I've encountered who's actually done it, it's been nothing but speculation up until now!

So I gave it a bit more of a manly shot at fitting the KE30 mount in and it worked much better the second time. Although I've not bolted up completely it looked pretty good for a test fit. Ordered a KE30 item just this minute.

my only concern is the extra tilt will likely accelerate the failure of the gearbox mount. Probably able to live with that as I've got a spare one anyway.

An even better option, I have a old bush from a 2-piece LH engine mount, I could quite easily chop up the 1 piece KE10 unit and adapt it to fit the bush from the 2 piece item.

Or, I may consider cutting a section out of the KE30 item and rewelding it to get the dimension I'm after.

Hi,

On my KE15 I had clearence issues with a set of cheap extractors once and I used a KE30/55/70 passenger side engine mount. Will bolt in and this uprioghts the motor a little so helps with carbie clearence etc and possibly turbo clearence in your case.

As for mounts if you have a broken KE mount remove the rubber on the passenger one and the part that bolts to the engine has the flat metal area where rubber once was. Drill a hole through the centre or where you need it and fit a ford escort round rubber moun t. They are the right thickness and you can pick best position on mount to drill hole to align it and fits straight in.

Cheers

Cameron

are these engine and gearbox mounts different from KE1# to KE2# ??

you can buy brand new non gen engine and gearbox mounts on ebay, they are easily available, well priced and made as per genuine.

if they are different then don't mind me :)

cheers, scott

Yeh they are the same, but a quick glance at the ebay item pic and they are not the greatest quality. You can see the ripply steel from the pressing process.

I did consider that option of cutting/drilling Cameron, was going to use the genuine toyota bush instead but at 100 bucks + and not even available, that went out the window.

45 bucks for a KE30 item, will give me +40mm on an already tight fit. Only issue is that the shifter will well and truly hit my knee now.

bend....
