jara
Sorry for making my third thread so soon, but i'm not the most experienced and i learn a lot from here so here's the deal. In my engine bay theres this little tube thing that isnt hooked up to anything, i think it might be sucking air, what is it meant to be hooked up to? and what size hose will i need to buy when fixing it? thanks
FOOMAN
I do believe that's where you run a hose to your charcoal canister (emissions crap). So no doubt someones ripped it out as they are useless. Not sure what size hose it is, mine just has whatever was on it cut short with a screw in it to block the hole off. Trev
As foo said, goes to the charcoal can.
67Rolla-Ken
Does it matter if he leaves it or should he block it off?
Trev
If it is sucking air then block it off.
altezzaclub
Trim an inch off one of the other hoses and put it on with a screw glued in.
jara
apparently charcoal cannisters help with fuel economy. is this true? is it worth chucking one in? if not i'll just do the 'screw in hose' idea Thanks guys
parrot
No, it absorbs fuel vapours and as metioned is an important part of your vehicle emissions. If you get pulled over for a roadworthy check, it will lead to failure. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever not to have one. So pick one at random from your local wrecker and bolt it in. Sloth
Valid opinion... though I thought the standard approach of all Corolla owners was: Step 1: Remove emissions stuff Step 2: ?????? Step 3: Profit! No, it absorbs fuel vapours and as metioned is an important part of your vehicle emissions. If you get pulled over for a roadworthy check, it will lead to failure. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever not to have one. So pick one at random from your local wrecker and bolt it in.
