AlexDrabble
hey guys, basically I'm looking at lowering my ke30 2 door, I'm undecided between going 30mm or 50mm down all around. what have other people done? has anyone gone 50mm and had problems? Can people post some pictures or theres lowered with either 30 or 50mm low springs thanks guys
B.L.Z.BUB
50mm will be no issue depending on what wheels you run. And are you going to use lowering blocks or reset the rear leaf springs?
Evan G
2 inch is perfect! this pic is with 2 inch lower front and 2.5 rear ( on bump stops. don't recommend it!)
AlexDrabble
yea i only have 13" alloy corolla wheels so clearance should be no problem. whats the benefit on getting springs reset over blocks? coln72
Ran cut springs in my KE35. Very bad as they were no longer captive, but i got away with it.......... In the rear, we dearched the main leaf by 2" using the old mans press. Once reassembled and installed, it dropped further. Basically it was on the bump stops, which I had to cut in half to gain some travel. Here is a pic (at a dodgy angle sorry) of how it used to sit. BReNt
I pulled the leaf pack from my ke30 apart and flipped the top 2 leaves. Nice ride height and handles surprisingly well. Although they are slowly starting to sag after being in use for 2 years. EDIT: had to remove bump stops for suspension travel..... Lol Edited May 17, 2012 by BReNt
sweet ke coupe
Yep ill back the flipping leafs in the rear i only did one leaf myself and the wheel now sits level with the gaurd. Only hits bump stops with 4 people in it and is abit stiffer that before
AlexDrabble
so flipping either one or two leafs lowers it and still has good spring properties? And what are peoples thoughts on lowering blocks in the rear ??? Edited May 18, 2012 by AlexDrabble
ke666
I just added another leaf upside down so it had 5 leafs and it sits just above the tyre and handles pretty good, thinking about 1 or 1.5 inch blocks and a thicker load/ bottom spring for more stiffness and for it to be on the ground haha. Just trial and error I guess. I had a hilux with a flipped load and 3inch blocks and my missus had a van the same but with 4inch haha
coln72
Why do people insist on making KE3#'s stiffer in the rear. Even with standard stiffness, my KE35 would single spin to a stop in tight corners. Making it stiffer would make the problem worse. Went softer in the rear end of my KE20.
