This Ae92's Engine. What Is It?

Hi folk, I hope some one can help me. In the process of making my AE92 a nicer car, I have come across a problem that I can't get my head around. Here are the details. The plate reads. TOYOTA COROLLA SECA

ENG - 4A-FC

MODEL - AE92 - LH LFA-PS

TRANS - A131L

BUILT - 07/90 CAP - 1587..... and so on. What's puzzling me is the cover on the engine. Whats going on there? Is that cover a ring-in? It reads "Toyota 16 Valve EFI". Is there a stamp on it somewhere I can look, so I can confirm the type of motor this car has got, and I can get the right parts. If any one can help me it would be very much appreciated.post-16581-0-81784600-1340797820_thumb.jpg

That's on a 4age, no idea about these engines.

It's a 4afc engine I'd assume, considering that's what it says on the plate after ENG. Looks like someone has put a 4afe rrocker cover on it.

The 4a shares the same bore but the AE93 smallport 4age's have more ribbing in the blocks for rigidity. I think its 7 ribs opposed to 3 on the average block. AE82 Bigport blocks were 3 ribbed I believe...

The "fe" head was narrower and so was the valve angle, still twincam but driven by scissor gears from camshaft which had the timing belt cog. They are an economy motor but can be improved with upgrades however there is limited info out there and its more logical to use a 4age as it has the better head to accomodate all the mods that can be done it.
