Ke30/4Age - Couple Of Questions

CR250Roost

Recommended Posts

I am currently undergoing a 4age conversion into a ke30.

Today I picked up a T50 gearbox to go with a (I believe it’s a blue top) bigport RWD 4AGE. I need some advice on oil lines and vacuum lines, etc.

The engine mounts arrived the other day but they are obstructed by the oil line in the picture. Has anyone else had this problem? The engine mounts were made for a 4age but I guess not all 4age engines have this setup. If I can’t find a better solution I will need to take the mounts to a fabricator and get them modified.

Also I’m not sure where these vacuum lines coming off the front of the tvis intake should lead to. I have a feeling I have to buy a while heap or other bits and pieces to go with it.

A huge thankyou in advance

What you have there is a 20V oil cooler sandwhich plate, the silver thing between the oil filter and the block.

If you don't want to run an oil cooler (i didnt on my 4age, some 4ages don't come with them from standard), just unscrew the oil filter, unscrew that silver thing that the oil line comes from, remove the silver sandwhich plate, and screw the oil filter back on straight to the block. and then your engien mount will bolt on all good.

Or you can get a different sandwhich plate, aftermarket jobby, that might be more slim line.

Thanks! If I remove that line, should I block off another pipe somewhere? What I mean is that the oil coming from that line goes through the oil cooler and goes back into the engine somewhere, which is not needed anymore, right?

Excellent point.

Follow the pipes around but it should go direclty into the sump. If it does, and you don't want to use the oil cooler then just block the plug at the sump

Is it the middle of the flat plate part of the engine mount (the plate that actually bolts to the engine) that is the bit getting in the way? If so just cut that shit out, the left hand side standard mount doesn't have it:

Or just remove the oil take off plate, but you will need a different union bolt (union bolts for oil take off plates are longer).

It was the middle of the plate as you said Rian. I was considering that option but I wasn’t sure if the bolt on the sandwich plate would hit the bit than mounts to the car. The new mounts seem shorter than the stock AE86.

I ended up taking the sandwich plate off altogether because I won’t be running an oil cooler for the time being, but since I didn’t have a shorter union bolt I just put it back together like this.

The oil line is just fed back into the sump.

Cheers
