Sub Woofer Without Replacing Head Unit

Recommended Posts

hey guys i am a complete newbie here and have a 2012 Corolla Ascent hatch australian model that is right hand drive and have the steering wheel controls for audio and radio stations, but my question is does the default head unit that i know is used in many cars have a sub out so when i go to fit a 12 inch kicker sub i don't have to bother installing a new head unit and only have to bother with an amp and the sub

any help with this would be appreciated

You'll need an amp to power your sub woofer either way though. Head unit wont have the grunt to run it.

Some (most?) amplifiers will take a speaker input, so if you don't have any RCA ports on your stereo you can splice into your rear speaker wires connect them up to your amp and then connect sub woofer to amp too.

If its an oem stereo i think its highly unlikely you will have RCA plugs on the back.

Factory CD players don't have RCA outputs so don't worry about taking it out to check.

Use a Line Out Converter such as the Aerpro APHL2 to convert the rear speaker signals to RCA leads for your amplifier (preserving the rear speakers too,) or buy an amplifier with High Level Inputs.
