TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 What happens if you don't vent the battery box to the atmosphere? I plan on running my battery in the hatch of my '82 and hadnt thought of this... Quote
Des Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Buy a sealed battey and then you don't need to worry about it, Dunno what will happen if you don't vent it. Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 That is a good point, was just interested in the reasons why. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted January 16, 2007 Author Report Posted January 16, 2007 Hi, If the battery isn't vented A it makes gas and well will make pressure and possibly blow the sealed container it is in up. Also Battery's make Hydrogen :) This is highly flammable so if you want to turn your car intot eh hindenburg put a non sealed battery in a box it will build up one small spark and good by corolla. So it is purely to vent the flammable gases coming off it. Cameron Quote
TheNOBBLER[RL] Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 Cheers for that... straight to the point and factual! Sealed battery it is! Quote

slapper Posted February 5, 2007 Report Posted February 5, 2007 I'm in the middle of relocating my battery to my boot, but it wont earth to anything in the boot what do you mean "it won't earth" ? You need to expose some bare metal and bolt an earth cable to it - use a coupla star washers and a decent bolt ... Look at the earth cables in your engine bay ... you'll need at least that size. does that help? Slapper Quote
