Hey all,
new to the forum bla bla bla anyway,
A Ke70 corolla is on the books for me, but before i buy I'm working out the details of my future plans for the car yadayada.
I'm planning on a W series gearbox to be mated to a 4a-gze motor. The motor in its final stage will be turbo and putting down some pretty ponies so i want a relatively tough and nice box to transmit it.
After a fair bit of research i had decided on getting a custom bell-housing from 'niteparts', because although a bit pricey, the quality is apparently top notch and you can also fit a supercharged 4a flywheel in it will minimal modification.
Then i came across a bright spark who stated that:
"W55,7,8 all will bolt up to a T series engine using a G series bellhousing... Tailshaft in most cars which came with a T50 can be substituted with that of the automatic version, provided they used the A30 or A40."
:D
As you can understand this is music to my ears. But as i have no hands on knowledge with toyota gearboxes (only word of mouth) I would like a second opinion.
Now my question is this:
Can you bolt a W series (example, W58) gearbox to a 4a-gze motor using a G series bell-housing?
Also, if i bought an auto Ke70 and decided to change it to manual early, would the G series bell housing also bolt up to the 4k? (I see no reason why not, seeing both the 4a and 4k bolt to the T series gearbox...)
