  1. If I put the 4K and box out of my KE55 into a KE20 shell, do I need to get it complianced? Just don't wanna buy the shell if I'm not gonna be able to get it registered quickly - don't have space for 2 cars and I need a car to get to work. Cheers Tom
  2. It's more likely to be electrical - points, cables, plugs, dizzy cap, dizzy itself. Just go over all of the connections and make sure they are tight, make sure your leads aren't damaged. Hope that helps Tom
  3. Try going easier on the clutch? Won't fix the problem but it'll make it easier to deal with and won't be too jerky. Possible solutions: My mate had a problem that sounds similar to this, and it was his Air Idle Control (AIC) in his Lexcen. Could also be a dirty throttle body, though that should just make your car go slower. Check your air filter and make sure your air box is closed properly and there's no dirt or crap through it (assuming you have a stock air cleaner and not a pod or such). It really shouldn't have those problems being such a new car, but anything's worth a shot if it could sort your problem. Hope you nail it soon
  4. The ignition kit sounds good...and cheap! That one's a definite yes. So what are all the parts I need in order to switch to double row?
  5. G'day, I'm considering giving my 4k a tweak over the next few months or so, but being on a budget I want to start slow and get the cheaper parts first. For the moment, I'd like to get the timing gear up to scratch so I can at least rev it out to a half decent rev range without jumping straight for carbies and a cam. Being far from an expert on the subject, I will need a bit of help with what to buy to make the most of my money. I have been listening around a bit and finding out bits and pieces of info on my engine, what problems they have stock and what I can do to make em go a bit better. One thing I have heard that I want to do something about is the poor quality of the distributor points. What would be the easiest thing to do? Put an entire new distributor in or take the points out of a different car? What will fit? Should I go magnetic points? I'll very much appreciate any help I can get Tom
  6. Haha...hopefully it'll all go well and we won't need the therapy :y:
  7. Ok, I'll put my money on it and hope it works out. Thanks fellas
  8. Ok, I'll try again... My name's Tom, I'm from Brisbane and I need a new diff. I have been offered the diff out of a KE70 wagon. What is the difference between the two diffs? I know that it has a double tailshaft as opposed to the '55's single, but is the track width similar/the same? And will it bolt straight in? Help on the matter is much appreciated Tom
  9. Yeah the labour is all that's stopping me at the moment...but if I can get the bearings, seals and other bits and bobs and figure it out myself, I'll be a happy man. Yes, the car is a stock KE55 CS sedan, it's in okay condition with a bit of rust hear and there, in need of some seals in a few places, but it is going. As for me, I'm from Brisbane south side and my name's Tom
  10. Was thinking of doing it myself, but I gather it'd be more trouble than it's worth. As such, does anyone know of anywhere I could get it done for a reasonable price?
  11. I'm looking at putting the leaf spring mounted diff out of a KE70 wagon into my KE55 sedan. Are the bolt holes the same? And is there a (big) difference in track width? This will be a big help if I can get the info by tomorrow. Cheers Tom
