Hello Folks, I hope you will bear with me a bit. Newbie here. I am struggling with problems with an Aisin 2 barrel carb on 4K-C engine. Truth be told....on an 81 Starlet, not a Rolla....but hope someone here might lend a hand. Found out about this forum over at Toyotanation. Just finished rebuilding this little gem. Have about 1000 miles on it and it was running like a top, although I did notice it would start immediately with manual choke, then would hit fast idle as choke pushed off. However, it would then go through this strange phase of even higher RPMs for a bit, then automatically decrease RPMs to hit steady slow idle. Good power going down the road and great mileage, even pushing it at modern highway speeds. Suddenly, it will NOT idle. It will start well, fast idle for a bit, then just die. I had not changed a thing...other than the oil/filter and gas filter at 1000 miles on the rebuild. Carb had been professionally rebuilt as well (supposedly) After hours of trying to figure this out and get things adjusted, I have given up. Hopefully someone here might be of assistance in pointing me at what might have gone haywire. I did check the fuel solenoid and it seems to work...at least the engine with die when I unplug the connection. All vacuum lines have been changed or seem good. If anyone here knows that this carb was used on other vehicles besides the 81 Starlet I would sure appreciate any info. Even better...if someone HAS this carb that maybe they swapped out a Weber for.....please let me know. I took my supposedly rebuilt carb apart and found the idle mix screw is quite chewed up. Not sure on the jets either. Unfortunately Toyota has abandoned these little beasts and parts have been 'discontinued'. Any help/advice/parts/sources for parts would be greatly appreciated!! :D Thanks.
