  1. Hi guys I'm currently building a ke55 4dr sedan

    Just resprayed it a nice orange pearl

     

    An now I'm at the stage of installing the auto gearbox back upto it cause the original blew up

     

    Problem is everytime i get to a certain point on toghtening it up to the engine it locks so i can't turn it over from the bottom end on the block

     

    Can anyone help me with this issue ??

     

    Stall convertor is in so it can't be that its not all the way in any other suggestions

  2. Hi guys I'm wondering how much a ke55 straight with no rust an fresh paint with a immaculant original interior would be worth

     

    Has immaculant straight chrome work even on bottom sills has original wheels with full tread the engine is a 1300cc I'm pretty sure with a 3sp auto

     

    I no these cars are rare in crappy condition an not running rather one with fresh paint an running great with no leaks an smick interior

     

    Please be honest an if anyones interested on it comment an keep an eye on this post as i will have pics up in the next week or two cheers

    So does anyone no how to rectify the steering quality from being heavy ??

     

    Would coil overs an strut bracing an skinner tyres on the front an fatter on the rear solve some of this ???

  4. Thanks to the guys that have givin me actual advice instead of debating with me ontwin turbo's or what not

     

    Well i'll start from scratch for those who want to listen !!

     

    When i was down at powercruise this year at willowbank raceway i saw dark purple near black ke30 corolla with a v8 just tearing up the track and havin fun ski-ing everywhere !!

     

    Now i chased this bloke down to speak to him about how hard it was an what he had to do to fit what he was running in the tiny ke30,

     

    He told me he was running a 304 block stroked to a 355 carbied an showed me what he had to cut to get the v8 radiator to fit showed me were he notched the chassis to fit the alternater i think it was,

     

    He also put a 10 bolt salsbury diff in the rear with thicker brackets an strengthened custom tail shaft an he's since changed his gear box but did run the T700 an only had to cut the trans tunnel very minor to fit an said the wiring was pretty basic just a few upgraded fuses,

     

    And of course ran bigger brakes an a upgraded fuel pump on the stock tank an had no roll cage

     

    Now heres what was suggested to me by KV's RESTO N FAB!!!

     

    To run a 350ci cause there shorter in width an u don't need to touch chassis rail at all, i even put to him if u need to strengthen control arms an he said no cause the corolla's definately punched above there wieght when designed,

     

    Also depending on gearbox i would choose to run would depend on how much trans would be effected ex.. T400 would need significant trans tunnel modification as to a 2sp power glide or T350

     

    An he said to chuck either the borgwarner,salsbury or 9 inch diffs didnt matter !!

     

    Now I'm not a fan or turbo's so thats why i don't wanna mess with em or do a turbo or a newer corolla engine conversion, i no some people are hard out fans an think destroying a car brand with completely different modifications is a "sin" but ive for ever wanted a ke30 with a v8,

     

    Thats why ive gone down this road, i love the shape of the ke30's an my pop who passed away owned one an always wondered what it would be like to put a 308 in one !!

     

    Now after seeing scottys green ke 355 stroker on nos at powercruise an then this ke sedan with a v8 at the track i just wanna build something me n pop always dreamed of...

     

    So this was my plan

     

    304 block

    Hi rise manifold

    Barry grant Carbie

    Tuff t700 gearbox

    Tuff cam

    Gilmer drive

    Alloy radiator

    Electric water pump

    Borgwarner or 10bolt salsbury diff

    Half roll cage (don't wanna cut dash up)

    Fuel cell 55-70litres

     

    What skill i hav an what i can do.......

     

    •Make roll cage an fit

    •run new fuel lines

    •Gearbox crossmember customized

    •I'm pretty confident after talking to my mate that i can mock up engine mounts or we will run a •chassi plate instead of mounts

    •Exhaust

    •Any trans tunnel modifications needed

    •An i can weld new diff but need someone to •shorten it after i mock it up

    •Install bracks an coil overs in front

     

    So realistically all i need to spend coin on would be

     

    •engine plate

    •Re wiring (properly) if i hav to upgrade any fuses

    •Custom tail shaft with loop

    •Shortened diff

    •Diff gears

    •Front sway bay

    •Brakes checked properly an a bigger booster to suit conversion

    •Any body strengthening if i can't do it myself

     

    An if i go down the 304 block way instead of a 350ci i can source parts super cheap an easy or 80% free

     

    I came on this site cause the guy who has the ke30 said it would be a helpful site for info so please i hope ive covered the basis's of what i need info on or Any help I'm chasing

     

    If anyone know links pics or anything related to what ive asked help if u wanna be a jerk an carry on about running one or two turbo's on a sr20 which i couldnt careless!!

     

    then PISS OFF with ya pointless bullshit move on to the TOPIC IN HAND AN THE THREAD STARTER!!!!

  5. Yea ive been told to run a hilux diff by a few people !! Do they bolt straight up or do u gotta fiddle with new brackets ??

     

    An yeah not havin any luck hahaha

     

    Thats y i thought ide start a thread on here to see if anyones done it before an get some tips hahaha i no fuk all about corolla's

     

    Ive got a Vp HSV clubsport that ive fully fabricated an droppin a tuff ls1 on nos in an full custom vy interior fibreglassed into it !!

     

    So commodores I'm sweet as but these little things i no zilch hahaha

    But i wouldnt hav a clue aye maybe the whole symetrical look hahaha an i thought of a ls1 cause of the alloy block n heads so much lighter but KV reckons a 350 cause its shorter in width as previous stated haha

     

    I was just gunna run a 304 cammed up an he still said go the 350 ci ?? Maybe he just loves them engines i no he specialises in the chevs who knows haha

     

    Ive tried looking to see if theres any videos on shortening diffs an can't find anything aye ; (

     

    Seen a few on engine mounts an they look a piece of cake or i could run a torque plate mount on the front maybe !!!

     

     

  7. Na u didnt read it wrong $2800 an my mate has a shipping company so i just gotta pay shipping to his dock an he'll bring it to the docks an a warehouse in brisbane !!!!

     

    An yea KV said will only cost me about 2-3k to get it fitted in with diff if i supply the

    Engine,box an diff

     

    But i wouldnt mind learning the ropes an do it myself its something i love doing an would love to learn the conversion side of things!!!

     

    I already do interior an Panel an paint an fibreglassing custom interior stuff so would love to be able to do it all myself except wiring hahaha

  8. Wont be no half finished ke30 here mate i can tell ya that much hahahaha

     

    An i was told by KV's RESTO AN FABRICATION to run a 350 chev as there smaller in width than holden 304's an ls1's

     

    So fabricating up pipes an notching into the chassis wont be a hassle cause if u run a bigger block u gotta notch into the chassis to make a few things fit properly

     

    An i wouldnt waste my time on turbos to much fuking around n i love the sound of torquey v8's hahaha

     

    The only thing i wont be able to do myself is shorten the diff an probs the engine mounts never ha to fab my own up before !!

  9. Yeah but is that with everything on it dump pipes two turbo's intercooler plus piping etc cause i just chucked a extra 60kgs on for the extra turbo

     

    An yea i checked that link aswell bro hahaha

     

    Do u reckon the turning will be harder like going from a power steer to a non power steer with the extra weight ??

     

    If i run the coil overs wouldnt that stiffin it up abit more ?? An can u get power steer for these lil rolla's ??

  10. With coil overs in the front i don't think

    It would have that much effect an the few people ive meet at powercruise that run 350 ci's in there corolla's said they don't have any probs with steering ability !!

     

    A sr20 with twin turbo's an the manifold etc comes to 220kgs ruffly an a 350 chev comes to 233kgs so not much between em when u think about it

    Aren't the early VN/VP hsv's worth good money now?

    Mate just traded his VN clubby(80,000kms and spotless) for a new SSV ute. I nearly fell over when he told me they gave him 20k for it.

     

    Hahah yeah i seen a vp hsv clubsport no.155 on ebay an the bidding was at $35 000 + with two days to go hahah i was gobbed smacked ..

    But mine is no153 hahaha unfortunatelly the guy who owned it before me crashed it an all the dash an heater n vents were all smashed an wrecked an had to be replaced so after a long thought process i decided seeams i had to change it all an it wont be original i might aswell change it all,

    So thats what ive done i got a full vy custom dash an door cards fibreglassed in but kept my rear seat cause its comfy as ʞ©$ɟ n don't look outta place with my coulsen front seats

    Full custom firewall

    Under dash boosterless system

    Boxed in battery box,headlights,rails an rad support plus extra

    Completely shaved

    Relocated fuel filler

    Sunroof

    Seam welded

    Soon to be mini tubbed to suit 22x10 showwheels

  12. i see auto boxes come for sale time to time in the for sale section or check the wrecking cars section on here, easiest thing to do is just replace the auto box with another... they are cheap most people convert to manual and get rid of the auto... that being said if you have the know how and have the parts to do v6 conversion... why not just go with that... just got to decide which road you want to take.

    option 2 is a big conversion... and if it s just going to be runabout may not be worth the effort..

     

    Yeah I'm not keen on the conversion i really didnt want to stuff around with the running gear an i only bought it cause i wanted a cheap on fuel runabout car n do the paint on it and interior while i build my clubby up.

     

    the guy i bought it off was supposed to be a reliable mate an he owns a reputable wheel shop

    On the cost called PHATWHEELS an didnt think he'd fuk me over plus he bought it for his daughter but he didnt wanna fuk around with the panel work so was supposed to be a good deal for me as i love doing my own panel work n wulda cost me near nothing an when i found out about the gearbox i told him i'll pay to get it checked out but if its fukd i don't want it an want my money back but he's a jerk n told me nope but he knows someone who will buy it for $200 an it hadnt even left his work shop n he charged me $400 so now i hav a cool lil rolla hahaha
