  1. rolla ken, which year bluebird springs, are they the oem ones come with the car,or aftermarket lowersd ones?Thank you and sorry for late reply.
  2. Scratch my last wish of seeking a picture for 50%.I did a research on the web and i did see different oem springs with aftermarket performance lower ones and the results were some of them they had the same height as oem ones been lowered when the car's weight added and others that were significantly shorter than oem ones. None of those were for a toyota ke20 though. So back to square 1. I want if possible please an answer from someone who has done this for a corolla ke20/25 with different springs from other cars mix and match and not with springs from brand names. Thank you.
  3. altezzaclub, thank you for your suggestions and the links. All these you mention i know them well, and from reading to thousands of opinions ...cutting coils from the oem spring is not a good option for the majority of those people...yes it can be done if is your last option. As far as cut the seat from the strut and welded in a lower position,i haven't done that because i am thinking ..correct me if i am wrong...that the tire will rubbing on the seat base. I did mention in the topic that i allready have different inserts from another corolla that are 35mm shorter stroke travel at the piston rod, 165mm the new ones vs 200mm travel the oem ones. My question was if someone has a picture side to side from an oem spring and a performnce lower spring unmount and fully decompressed. The springs in my picture are the same outside diameter128mm to 130mm including the oem one,the sping coil diameter is different from the alfa romeo 11.5mm versus 11mm from the 2 corollas. Also i don't mind too much about the stiffness rate as long i can test compress them with my hands and my body weight since i have a reference from the oem 1,as you also suggested with the bathroom scale. That is why i am looking for a picture side to side as i mention earlier so i don't start the trial and error thing...
  4. Hi Guys, I have a corolla ke 25 and because the car is sitting so high. plus the 12" wheels with high profil tires, handling around corners and overall is average to poor. So i decide to make some changes, but because i don't know exactly what to do and also funds are limited,i am asking here for your help if anybody has done this on the cheap. To start with,i have never seen a brand name lower spring live to compare it with the oem ones so if my question is stupid please ignore it.Are the lower springs suppose to be physically lower in dimensions comparing to original ones,or are the same height as the original but because they are progressive?? they are the same height as original and when installed from the weight of car, sitting lower?? So of the springs from the car and going around reckers to find different springs. I have allready given by a friend of mine corolla E80 inserts which are 33cm body lenth, 38mm diameter and 16.5cm rod lenth. Original 1 is: 41.5cm body, 38mm diameter and 20cm rod lenth. So i will make a 85mm spacer to put it under the insert in the shock so i will have 35mm less rod travel from the insert. Any suggestions are welcome. Now to the springs issue. From the picture i have posted, from right to left is: Corolla KE25 oem spring,36,5cm long, Corolla fwd rears uknown model 34cm long, and Alfa Romeo 33 '86 model 32cm long. The fwd corolla is softer than oem but more progressive, alfa romeo is stiffer than oem but a bit more aggressive rebound(just press them with my hands). Any suggestions also here will be helpfull. So the question is , is any of these springs suitable for the KE25 just from looking at them? Forgot to mention that the wheells will be changed to 13'' with 175/65/13 tires. Thank you in advance.
  5. Thanks for the reply mechanical sympathy, but your car has a very easy to find alloy wheels with P.C.D 114.3mm. Mine is a pain to find any because of the odd 4 X 110mm P.C.D. No one has done ke20 ke25 wheel changing?
  6. Hey, I need help please for this issue as it looks like my set of alloy wheels for my ke25 is useless.I have purchase a long time ago 2 sets of alloy wheels for a very good deal but i never try fit them on car because she wasn't ready for the new looks. Well yesterday i did try them on and was a shock for me.Won't fit without a spacer or without it they touch the strut assembly. They are 13x6" ET18 and 13x5.5" ET25. I don't want to use spacers so which is the offset and width you recommend and tried before?
  7. fenders were from a 1000cc kp36.....so no buy. Thanks for helping guys.
  8. Thanks parrot,i will check and i get back with pictures.
  9. Hi, I need a quick and urgent answer from someone who know.I want to replace my KE25's front fender's L&R because of rust.I found here in a shop 2 new original fenders from a KE20.Are these fenders the same with KE25 or they have differences?I want to buy those because they are rare,at least here in Greece, but the shop told me that another person restore's his KE20 and he was searching for the fenders too.So i don't want to miss those in case they are a perfect fit for my KE25. Thank you.
  10. thank you parrot,i have found with a quick search here in reckers all the diffs you are reffering too, TA22,AE86 non lsd and mitsubishi lancer with lsd.All 3 of them are exactly the same lenth ....check the pictures please. The ta22 is the cheapest at 150 next is the ae86 at 350 and the dearer of all is the mitsu at 400.If i deside to do this conversion do i need to shorten the splines? Also there is another option from the guys here in Greece which run drift wars with KP60/61 and they use daihatsu feroza and rocky rear diff and axles lsd ready and never brakes due to huge o.d axles. They run 400 and 460 hp on rear wheels.
  11. parrot, thanks for the input and info, and no i haven't upgrade my rear axle...only welded diff since i want to keep original 4x110 pcd because all of my set of alloy wheels (2 sets)are 4x110 and can't afford another expense of buying new wheels. As for parts sourcing...all the parts you mention are plentiful here in Greece with 1 question for the T series rear....it is hard to source.Which T series is the rear drums and probably axles you refere to?The other reason i haven't upgrade the rear,is because i own another KE25 complete car and use it for parts or what ever needed.
  12. Hi, I am new to this forum and i want a bit of help please. If the answer i am seeking for is in the forum please polnt me to the correct thread and i apologize for any trouble. I own a Corolla ke25 and i want to upgrade the rear brakes with mazda rx7 first generation disk rotors and nissan or seat.golf, skoda calipers. They have the handbrake on the caliper and don't need for drums handbrake. Reason for wanting to do this conversion is that i fed up with the balance of the rear of the car(drums never are aligned the same),and the other reason is that i want to put 4agze engine in the car with the potential to go for 210 brake horse power. Is this conversion ever been done with success and how Front brakes i have audi 239x20 mm vented with mazda 323f calipers and adapters. Any help will be apreciated. Thank you.
