  5. this is the place to go when it comes to over the net advice

what are you looking at doing to your ke55?

    budget? plans? target power output?

well I'm not looking to put it in d1 or anything (i wish) i just want it on the drift track due to i have loved drifting in it since i got it i feel more comfortable in it then any other car i know where everything on thw outside sits so i can get close to anything i used to drift it round a 40m wide round-about when it was an auto my friends were shitting themselves so i figured better then dump the car cause the blown engine i would rather make it again all i want to do is bump up the torque and get it sideways

  6. hey fair enough :) seems like you have a good start, motor options are all there:

    mazda rotary: 12a, 13b, 13bt

    toyota 4ag: 16v, 20v, 4agze, 4agte

    toyota: 3sge, 3sgte, 1gge, 1ggte, 1ggze

    nissan: ca18, ca18det, sr20, sr20det, fj20, fj20det

    holden: v6

theres some ideas anyway, all the above have been done before as far as i know.

all involve quite a bit of work and patience but once done have great results.

cheers do you think a 4k with t28 turbo will put out enough torque to get a decent slide in cause we still havent made up our minds on engine like we said we are on a bit of a budget we were going for sr20 but we think cheaper for now

  7. whats it with this budget drifting craze!

its expensive to get a car to do what it wasnt meant to do from factory,

so a old corolla drifting is going to cost a lot or you are very good at modifying

cars and have lots of time, knowledge and tools.

its going to cost a couple of grand which you might as well buy a used drifter

to thrash around on and hack up that has already been set up for drifting and

can actually drift around corners to some degree.

else if it must be the ke55 corolla id say

    bigger k motor,

    weld diff,

    change diff ratio,

    get skinny tyres on rear,

    good tyres up front,

    big cam,

    bigger carby,

    clean up head,

    mild port,

    extractors,

    exhaust,

    remove / hack up interior,

    add leafs to rear,

    lower harder coils up front,

    new dampers,

    race seat and harness,

    half cage,

    surge tank,

    motor, gearbox and diff service,

    longer lower control arms,

    new stiffer bushes all round,

new decent brake pads and shoes,

    very good handbrake setup,

and thats about it or so...

theres a few grand and a few months of weekend work if

you have tools and know what you are doing. you'll need more

than a shifter, a screwdriver and a 6 pack to make it happen.

heres a plan, take it to the track stock standard and try to drift...

and the only drift you will get is that it wont slide sideways unless its

on the roof through the first corner, feel free to stick your hand out

the window for extra style points though. when you come to a stop and

are the right way up consider your options again.

(note: disclaimer - do not attempt the above)

handbrakes done roll cage goes in in bout a week tyres are set got a friend pitching in and kustom made wheels race seat harness brakes i need to work on a bit and with all this stuff being done you really think ill have the cash for a six pack i have bout 4 people already waiting to get started on it we just need to decide what engine to put inand yes it is a budget drift car but it is still what i have wanted to do to it since i got it

  8. Gday, and welcome to rollaclub.

A couple of handy hints for you so that you time here will be well spent.

The other one is search and you shall seek. Many topics have been covered before. The rides and projects threads are a wealth of knowledge, and if it's not covered somewhere in there, then it probably can't be done.

Try putting more info into you post. We can make many different suggestions, but if you only have $300, not many of them will be practical. You have to keep in mind that we get asked very opened ended questions like yours about once a day at the moment, so if you don't have a think about the questions you ask, you're not going to get answers you're happy with.

What kind of advice are you after? Engine? Suspension? Drivetrain? Fully sick shopping list sticker application? Hmmm... maybe not the last one, but you get the idea. ;)

    Regards

    Dwarf

thanks i feel kinda lost in all this at the moment i was trying to find someone who could actually come to my house and give me a hand possibly or just some over the net advice
