thanks guy's 1 ) i only want a stock torque converter , so i can have it re worked for greater stall speed & flash speed . ( so i can drop it off at the shop while i still drive around with mine ) & while I'm there fit a new front & rear seal & filter & gasket . i also might fit a trans cooler , as well as the one inbuilt into the radiator . other than that my transmission works fine . i just don't know what 3 speed auto transmission i have got . i know my car is a 83 ae71 rwd . i believe the 4ac is out of a latter model ????? 2 ) cam . i would like to regrind ( by tighe's ) my cam to make the most of my ported & fully reco'd head & add some valve springs to suit . the engine was fully reconditioned 70 000 klm ago with new pistons . 3 ) i would love some 2nd hand extractors to help the exhaust flow better . if i can't get any / or nobody makes them I'll just use a standard carby & smaller cam & smaller stall speed on the converter . i may even look at getting some extractors made up if there not to expensive . i know extractors , larger cam & stall & good tune will make a big difference , especially in the top end where it will help to push the rear axle ratio along . 4) is there more power to be made using a 32/36 Webber carb ? . as i have a reconditioned one unused since rebuilt . also electronic dizzy would also be a good upgrade . 5 ) as for handling & suspension . it's a everyday driver that will see no track work . but will still be driven hard & be pushed even harder again by the power upgrade . so I'm thinking 1" lowered springs & shocks , replace any worn bushes & a wheel alignment + a new set of tires for starters .

i just want to make the most of what i got already . i have heaps of fun as it is & so does my girl friend . i need my car for work & getting around so i wanta collect my parts inventory first & then get my rolla ship shape again . what models came out with 4ac engines ? as i need 2nd hand extractors & cam shaft & a torque converter for a 3 speed auto rwd . how do i identify the auto transmission ? . & what other corolla's share the same suspension components ? & what handling parts do you recommend ? it's just a all round a 2 b car , but i do enjoy ringing it's neck & taking the straightest line i can through corners & roundabouts . it's not a full race car so can i get away with any new cheap shocks or is there a big difference in handling & what should i do & not do . my springs & shocks are real bad . & i have noticed especially in the wet it feels like it's to light in the front & wants to go straight ahead when turning ? any help much appreciated

hahaha i can she's not much chop to look at though , it will just make me guilty of neglecting it :P . all though i did buy it like this 4 months ago , but i haven't washed yet . well i spoke to my m8 about respraying it just the other night . i'll keep it the same color & just tint the windows . it really needs some shocks though & i'm sure some springs would help to ?? ok i just rang the bloke i bought it off & he told me that that thers some mags at his house it i can have . & it has lost about 20% power from the dizy being shaged . he all so said the port job was more than mild , more mid to top end & the head was fully reco'd with new valve guides & springs . the only reson he didn't get a cam was he had to regrind the one out of the engine & he heard regrinding's bad & he needed to rework the stock torque convertor . ( i know regrinding cams ain't that bad ) & i'll get my torque covertor reworked . i'll have to ring dean tighe & see what i can get away with :) . ok the pic's my ae 71 , no. 2 my 12 " sub woofer fully sic & 6x9's & my 2" supper trap muffler

what sort of cam lift can i put into a 4ac motor ? i have a 4ac in a ae 71 83 carolla it has towing gears ,( will check diff ratio on weekend ) & a 3 speed auto that shifts hard ( really bangs into gear & has done since my mate got it about 7 years ago ) the engine was fully rebuilt 3 1/2 years ago with new acl pistons + 1mm over . the head was mildly ported ( just cleaned up / deburred casting flash but lightly ran over entire port with burr then finished with tape ) i have a rebuilt 32/36 webber carb & adapter plate & new air cleaner . if i regrind my cam for more top end & use a stall covertor & extractors what sort of hp could i expect ??? & how much does a 4ac have std ?? if i do this i'll buy the extractors first & install them & take the car off the road over easter & do the cam & stally & carb @ the same time then get it tuned hahaha . i only expect 20% power in crease & any more would be a bonus . ( i can feel when the porting kicks in mid to top end haha ) over time i will put new shocks in it ( maybe lowered springs ) & respray it & tint the windows . it's just my A 2 B car ( btw it has a kick arse stereo ) it also has a super trap muffler with 2" exhaust . cam spec's lift & duration ??? what can i get away with ?? thanks guys

ha ha chevy hahaha . but surely a .600+ lift hyd roller & springs , extractors & tune would have 2 fly . i know my m8 has a recipie for 400 rwhp out of a ls1 . & it's only cam & springs tuning exhaust work , & a bit of this & that . no very hard . but it's still a chev/holden heavy chunk of s@#t . or pro charge it ...

like this one . this is my mates ( he has 2 ) he's aiming for 400 hp , but running a turbo 350 he'll lose abit at the treads . this is a drag car , but he's planing on swapping the engine around for the odd Saturday night special cruise .

btw i almost put a 440 big block into a rs 2000 escort . but a irish guy i worked with bought it & sent it back to ireland .

i already have a 265 in a Lt celica speedway car hahaha . i tryed to post a pic & a photo of a inlet port i ported , & a pick of our exhaust . 1 5/8 primary's it 3" collector & 3 1/2 " super trap muffler .

thanks mate . i have a reco'd 32 / 36 webber & adapter plate for my z 20 nissan motor & new air cleaner ( which i was thinking about puting in my rolla ) . as for a roeket i also have a mopar 318 V8 & 904 rebuilt auto wainting to go in :y: mmmm but i had no idea i could make my 4ac go ok till last night . so if i can just use bolt on stuff & keep costs down that would be much better & leave the $$$$ for my big block . but i'm a single for life type bloke so who knows what could happen . what sort of hp could i expect out of a 4ac with cam, port work , 32 / 36 webber & extractors ??? 100-110 hp ??

hi guys I'm a new bloke here . I'm a V8 mopar ( Chrysler ) man , but have a 83 ae 71 corolla as my work car . i really love mashing the pedal @ every set of lights . mines a 3 speed auto that shifts real hard & was told it has towing gears from the factory :) . it has a 4ac engine that was rebuilt about 3-4 years ago with new .040+ acl pistons & had a light lick on the ports , & ele dizzy ( that I'm having problems with ) other than that it is stock . i was thinking about regrinding the cam & getting some extractors & getting a new dizzy . & maybe getting the torque converter modified to stall around 2500 rpm . what are your thoughts & any recommendations . I'm not really in love with this car it's just fun . my real love is my big block VF valiant Ute , thats where all my money goes . after typing in 83 corolla into google i was surprised that people all over the world were spending money on these lil Toyota's . well i have one so what can i do to improve it . i have been neglecting mine & thrashing the hell out of it . so i wouldn't mind tidying her up a bit over time & make it look respectable , handle a bit better & beat commodore drivers from light to light :y: or at leased go even better than i do now . how much lift & duration can i get away with ? I'll get valve springs if i need to , what about ele dizzy where do i get them ect . & 2nd hand extractors & would a Webber cab be better that what comes out std ???? . what type of auto box do they run because it's also leaking alot of fluid so I'll fix that first . thanks guys .
