    Looking to start a conversion

    Hey all, long shot, I'm looking to see if anyone had an engine conversion kit with everything i need to bolt it into my KE55 including gearbox, mounts, wiring ect,also if you had a tail shaft and diff too, i'm planning to go hoppers stoppers front brakes unless you have something in good condition preferably with 4x114.4 hubs, mainly looking for an sr20det ca18det or even a rotory, cheers all hope to here from soon, located Sydney

    I just recently joined this Forum, and I just wanted to share some pictures of my project: KE30 Swap, replacing the engine and using the 3sge Altezza Engine. I am not a mechanic but I really like to see how a car can be transformed, like my project. I have not finished the project yet but I think I am in the correct way, I have been working on it since last year (2017), leave some advises I may need.

    Oil pump failure

    I'll try to explain this the best as i can with my limited knowledge, There is a almost like a bubbling sound coming from the motor.. quite loud when idling on a hill, noticed this on my driveway Same tempo, doesn't increase when reving I suspect my oil pump is failing and the motor is quite starved for oil particularly on a hill. She has always been a little "tappety" but never really had anything to compare with Are my assumptions heading in the right direction? Should i be taking out the pump ? Any help much appreciated, getting ready to go for an RWC so want to get everything sorted best i can Many thanks
  5. Hello all. I have recently purchased some new machines for my wifes home business and have decided another cash flow for us is old car parts. I will be manufacturing tail light gaskets for ke series corolla for a start. I have managed to find a ke30 sedan taillight gasket in my garage ( in very rough, 40 year old condition) but have scanned it and measured it to be "as new shape". I would like ke30 coupe, ke25, ke10 and possible ke70 owners to to contact me if possible so I can measure the tail light gaskets on your cars so I can manufacture them for those models too. I have not managed to find ke30 taillight gaskets anywhere, not even when i purchased new taillights from fleebay. Depending on cost of the rubber sheets, a pair of gaskets will be anywhere from $50 -$100 a pair, made from 3-5mm thick black rubber. If this is in the wrong section, i would appreciate it if the mods could move it :-) Regards Mac

    Alternator Options

    Hi there guys, I'll keep this as short and as sweet as possible.. I'm currently in the process of installing orion HCCA gear into my little ke30, now for those of you who are aware of the HCCA name they draw one hell of amount of power. My question is that, would there be a simple option in boosting my alternators amps into the 300A mark? or would i be better off with a single wire alternator set up and probably a custom bracket to mount the alternator?? Any help at all would be greatly appreciated

  9. Hey guys, so I'm currently driving my ke30 up to Dubbo for mysterybox rally. Had a bit of trouble yesterday with overheating. Managed to encourage her through a 500km trip, 35 degree heat. Most of the time she ran fine, but she over heated twice. It seems there is excessive purging out the overflow bottle, then coolant gets too low and it overheats. Has a new water pump and new thermostat, plus good coolant. I'm hoping maybe it's just the radiator cap is a bit faulty? Don't want to think about a head.. cheers for some advice!!

    3K Engine in KE55E

    Hey guys, Working on my 79' Corolla. Previous owner has replaced the 4K-C engine with a 3K engine. Everything is connected correctly and have checked everything 100 times. Now, everytime i start her up, she runs well but as soon i put her in drive it stalls. Been trying to adjust the idle screw, but don't get much of a response from the motor. Has anyone got an idea of how the vacuum setup differs between the 4K-C engine and the 3K engine. If so can you suggest a diagram to follow to make sure it is all connected in the right spot. Or could this just be a completely different issue all together? And has anyone got a clue how to decode the engine number, so i can figure out a manufacturing year? Cheers fellas.

  13. going to purchase a ke30 or ke55 to begin playing around with engines and learning to work on a car. do you guys have any tips on starting off playing around with cars and k engines? (tools, basic needs, easy mods etc.) cars have alwasy been my passion and I'm finally going to start tinkering with one, and the old corolla has alwasy been one of my favourites cheers

    Anyone know how wide is the widest tyre that would fit in the rear of a ke30 2 door stock wheel arch. I was thinking 225,40, r17.
  16. It's time to adjust the valves on my 3K-C and I have no idea what I'm doing. I know how to do a valve job on a standard in-line four with two valves per cylinder, I just don't know if these engines have any oddities to them. I also do not know the clearance specs or any of that. If anyone could give me the rundown on how it's done or has any helpful information that could point me in the right direction to find what I'm looking for it would be greatly appreciated.   18. Hi Guys, new to this forum. Thanks for having me. I'm moving from Qld to Syd and will bring across my KE30. Currently on full Qld rego. The car is modified with a 5K motor, K50 gearbox and diff to suit. Everything else standard. It has been engineered in Qld to be registered. However, I will need to do this again in NSW. I would like to register the car under modified historic registration with the club once in NSW. Can anyone tell me what I will need to do to have the car ready for historic rego and estimate of cost involved? Thanks in advance.

    KE30 Ignition issue

    Hello. Once again I come to this forum to seek your wisdom! I've tried asking around but no one have any idea what the heck is going on. My car did not pass the inspections. The HC value was off the scale it read a value over 2000 when the limit is 400. As I understand HC is hydrocarbons and this means the car is running a little rich which I can already tell by the backfiring sometimes. I've taken the carburetor apart and replaced all the gaskets and given it a thorough clean. I could already feel it running better than before. I think it was leaking a little bit. I also ordered some ignition parts like: A new coil, distributor cap and rotor and new breaker points. They did not have any condensers so I have to source that elsewhere. Unluckily the distributor cap and rotor did not fit. I changed the breaker points on my corolla and set it up to the factory spec. A gap of 0.4 - 0.5 mm when it is at the top. Then I checked it with a dwell angle and got it pretty on point. I also checked the timing with a timing light. But after I changed the breaker points I noticed it was running very rough. It was coughing and spitting fuel out the exhaust. It's like the timing was way off. Then I noticed on my tacho that it was jumping all over the place. I have no idea why it does this. Is the high voltage jumping and shorting somewhere since it's always triggering the tacho? I've uploaded a video to youtube to demonstrate what happends.

  21. Hey all. Been going to Sydney motorsport park quite a bit lately as my young son loves racecars. Last few weekends there has been a bloke out there with a white ke30 fastback with a rotary in it. Last time out he was having gearbox issues however. Last weekend there was also a blue ke30 with a rotary absolultely dominating all the other cars at the track. Had NSW plates that read along the line of BRRRP or similar. Very tidy and straight car! Heres a vid I made of it if anybody wishes to have a look. Anybody else frequent eastern creek with their rolla as these are the only two I have seen out there in some time. Seems all the others are kept away in their garages never to be driven at the track. For the number of them produced and the imcreasing rarity of rx3, etc I have expected to see many more old rollas making the track rounds. But to this day nothing. There still appears to be heaps of guys on here putting alot of time and effort into engines swaps and performance builds, but they seem to end up being trailor sailors and show queens instead of track monsters :-( Hope to see more lads with flash corollas at the track soon Regards mac
  22. 1976 ke30 2 door sedan for sale, Body is very straight and original with factory paint and no rust. The car has been garaged all of its life. There is no motor or gearbox in car. comes with a 4agze motor from ae92 (coil pack, afs), T50 gearbox and shortened borg warner 28spline disk brake diff from r31 skyline with mounts and handbrake cable setup for corolla. Car will be sold with cressida struts and lca's. This is an unfinished project that i have, alas, no time to complete. Not looking to part out, looking for a quick sale.   24. Hi I am regretfully selling my 1975 KE30 2 door sedan. Literally just had a respray costing 6k, it has a 4K in great condition and I've had a k50 5 speed box put in it by a mechanic. Car is very straight and clean. Dash has a crack or two but apart from that great condition. Please message for any questions 0487761662. $12,000.00 negotiable. Photos of completed car are before respray havnt got any post yet, also will come with an 18RG twin cam engine it has been taken apart.
