ancullen Posted June 27, 2007 Report Posted June 27, 2007 In regards to your actual question (oops, missed that bit :P ), it's a bit hard to tell how much the change to an 8" rim is going to affect your steering. In theory having the wider rims should improve the car's handling and grip, but there are no guarantees. The steering is also likely to get heavier, but on some small cars with power steering, this isn't really a big deal as they can often have too light steering. Quote
hotboxcivic Posted June 28, 2007 Author Report Posted June 28, 2007 there's plenty of clearance from the guards and as well as the inner guard walls. they were the first things i checked, which it great. the rim does stick a little out from the front guards, maybe 10mm at the most, barely legal  and is perfect at the rears. i have upgraded from 195 to 225 tyres so handling is great, but the steering is a little heavy now, which is expected and i think it's working the p/s hard. i don't plan on using the GTR rims for long, it'll be wearing down the steering bushing too much because of the different offset. ancullen Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Fair enough. Could you take a picture of the car with them on, as I'm keen to see what it looks like. Must be pretty fat. Quote

ancullen Posted June 28, 2007 Report Posted June 28, 2007 Yeah, Integra Type-R wheels could work well. They're 16x6.5 or something aren't they? Quote
hotboxcivic Posted June 29, 2007 Author Report Posted June 29, 2007 that's right max tyre width is 205, which is sufficent Quote
hotboxcivic Posted July 1, 2007 Author Report Posted July 1, 2007 (edited) here's a pic i took with my phone, i'll get some better angles that show the offset. Edited July 1, 2007 by hotboxcivic Quote
ancullen Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 They look HAWT!!!! The colour of the rims seems to match the body colour. What size rim are they though? 15's??? They look about an inch too small is the only problem, but that gives you fatter tyres, which looks cool. It's kinda rally spec. :lolcry: Quote
hotboxcivic Posted July 2, 2007 Author Report Posted July 2, 2007 the body and the rim colour are really similar, the body is a bit more purply though.. here are some more pics. you can really see that the offset is wrong.. the rims are 16's, just needs to be lowered a bit, yea it does look like a rally car.. :lolcry: Quote
ancullen Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 That offset looks fine. It looks even more rally spec in that last picture. Forget the Type-R rims, stick with the GT-R's. They are AWESOME! And yes, could definitely use some lower springs. Not SuperLows, just Lows. And some adjustable strut tops would be good so you can get some negative camber happening, bringing the top of the tyres inside the arches a bit more. Quote
ancullen Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 I'd LOVE to get the drivetrain & brake bits from the 'new' Corolla sedan, just so I can put a set of those rims on my ZZE122R. Quote
hotboxcivic Posted July 2, 2007 Author Report Posted July 2, 2007 my car "tram-lines" on shitty roads so i think i should change the rims to a proper offset. i doubt there are any suspension mods for gen yet.. probably have to wait atleast another 6mths.. the gen10 is the 1st rolla to have a 5x114.3 stud pattern, it's about bloody time! ancullen Posted July 3, 2007 Report Posted July 3, 2007 It's a pain in the arse for us owners of older FWD models. Now we can't do a simple wheel or brake upgrade. :lolcry: Quote
