Speedo Not Working And Jumping Around

hey guy and gals got a curve ball for yaz,

 

My speedo the other day decided to start jumping around, now all it does is stay on 0 under acceleration

 

when i take my foot off the gas it waves around the general speed I'm doing then once i put my foot down it goes down to 0.

 

I have replaced my speedo cable, = no change :D

 

replaced guage dash cluster = still no change, :hmm:

 

so i am scratching my head and need some advice.

 

I had a theory that maybe its the thingy that goes into the gear box that the cable is attached to is playing up. but unsure.

 

if that the case do i need to replace that part or could it be gear box its self ?

 

any advice will be great

Its the drive gear inside the gearbox. Its easy to replace (unscrew the cable and undo one bolt and it will pull out) but depending on what gearbox it is they can be hard to find.
