wang_comander Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 **NOW THIS IS CURRENT AS OF THIS WEEK** Ok so I really lost interest in this car and started doing more work on my accord. Long story short, I got defected while parked out the front of work between Christmas/newyears by a f@$k tard cop, who treated me like apiece of shit, and I wast even doing anyhting wrong (honestly) made to go over the pits, new it wouldn't pass so didn't bother. Cancelled rego and has been sittting in my driveway since then. Last week decided I'd revive it. Had spare 4age (2 actually) sitting in my shed. Pulled one down this week, cleaned it all up, and was going to put a complete gasket set through it, and rebuild the head, back to factory specs. Then once I stripped it I realised I only have 8 more bolts and a few more weeks and I van have a 7age. So out of my next weeks paycheck I'm buying a 7a short motor (rang a place yesterday, $250). Cleaned everything up, degreased it all, then last night I pulled my motor out of the car. Gunna start cleaning the engine bay up so I can get it painted. I'll put a few pics up now. few iPhone pics of various things Couldn't sleep so got up and started rippingy motor out. Ready to unbolt in the morning. All done. Quote
wang_comander Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 then this morning: pulled it out this morning. Start stripping this motor after lunch. Wiring harness, alternator, p/steer pump, a/c comp, starter motor, all off the motor decided I'll swap everything off this onto the 7a in one hit so this is as far as it goes for now. I'll be rebuilding the head tommorrow. I'll be sure to grab pics of it as i do it all. Now I'm just waiting to pick up a 7A short motor next week. have also been looking into a set of rods, and few other goodies, but ill update when i decide exactly what route I'm going ot take with it next week.... also picking up a set of 20V extractors, primaries and scondaries tommorrow arvo. ;) FORZA: its nothing, just a stret car. its my daily driver, always has been, always will be, its just something i can cruise around in and have fun in. my "show" car is my accord I'm building for a weekend cruiser. thanks for hte comments  Quote
wang_comander Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 20 volts tractors. As you can see the O2 sensor has been relocated from the secondaries just infront of the cat, to in the primaries, to suit a 16v (thanks chris) putter holes welded up ready to be redrilled to suit 16v head. Might do that over the weekend if I get time. Quote
wang_comander Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 Also, just a reference pic to show the difference between 16v & 20v secondaries. Obviously they both bolt into the cat just under the firewall. And another just showing the 16v OEM gasket on the 20v manifold flange to show the outter hole differences Quote
wang_comander Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 Got my bottom end home Saturday. Gotta buy a piston ring compressor Wednesday then I'll start ripping these two blocks down and sorting out what path I'm going to take with the motor. so far this motor build owes me just $150 ($450 if you include the initial purchase of the motor I had laying in my shed for months and months now) Quote
wang_comander Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 Full gasket set just arrived too. So I now have almost two complete gasket sets. If anyone needs anything ask me I'll see what I've got spare. as for ring compressor, I thought the rings might have gone flying when I tapped them out. In they case, I'll go pull them down now. See how I go. Oh and I mis calculated, I didn't factor in the gasket set, which cost me $100. Thanks for all the comments. It keeps me motivated. Lol. I'll go rip the pistons out after lunch. Quote
wang_comander Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 Just ripped the 4a pistons out. Got 7a on te stand ready to be pulled down now Quote
wang_comander Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 Hahaha. Nah when I wanna do something, I do it. 7a block is all stripped down now too. 7a top, 4a bottom pretty much reached all I can do for now. Get paid tommorrow, if I hot enough money left over I'll buy these rods I'm looking at, if not I'm just gunna get the small things like the new bazda crank pulley, head bolts, more degreaser, other little things like that, then get rods next fortnight. See how I go tommorrow oh and I'm rebuilding the head tommorrow now. Had a slight delay with tafe, tommorrow is d day. Thanks for your time :-) Quote
wang_comander Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 bit of an update (incase anyone is interested) getting a turbo off a diesel rodeo. they use a T2 flange, so its just a matter of swapping it with another if it turns out to lag too much, plus i got it for the right price  since i got that, i figured I'm just gunna go 7agte, and since i tried to order my belfab rods the other week, and for some stupid reason, i had it set in my mind it was NZD on their website (f@$ked if i know why) when its actually usd, i didnt end up buying them, was goign to get them this week instead (payday). but this morning i had a brain snap. instead of putting smallport pistons on belfab rods, and then ripping it back down to check everythign was ok still when i get the turbo set up finished in a month or two, i figured ill just use the factory 7a rods and pistons for now, then go with spool items or maybe still belfab in a month or so when i finish turboing it. so I'm goign to go home tomorrow and start bolting the motor back together with the fatory 7a bottom end. get the car over the pits, and blue slippped again, then rip the motor out once i have the parts to turbo it. so motor could possibly be back in the car by monday, and running by next weekend. also gives me alot more cash to spend right now makign sure the rest is done right (cos I'm sick of catching the bus to work ) so yeah. project 7age will commence reassembly tomorrow ;) one question though, i tried searching but nothing on this forum really, can a smallport ge ecu run GZE CAS and coilpacks? or do i need the GZE ecu? and are AE101 and AE92 GZE CAS and coilpacks the same? id assume that it would be easier to get a AE92 GZE ECU, CAS and coilpacks, as it would all plug straight into my smallport loom would it not? Quote
wang_comander Posted June 20, 2010 Author Report Posted June 20, 2010 Yeah thanks. But not gunna buy them just yet. I'll wait till I am ready to rip the motor down again to buy my rods and pistons. pistons are back in the 7a. Smallport Head is back on the 7a bottom end. Cams back in. Everything is cleaned up. Just gotta put the sump back on after I torque up the rod bolts. Then put oil pump and timing gear back on then I'll start swapping all the accesories off my 4a onto the 7a. Put my tractors and intake manifolds on. Then I can drop it back in. Rad. Quote
