Here's a small introduction to what's resulted in countless hours, days, weeks, months, years of hard work, tears & dollars spent. The year is 2004, I acquired a Toyota Corolla from one of my friends, Nick. The vehicle had been stripped out with the engine bay painted, sitting beside a colossal pile of parts. Due to lack of time and a few others things, I acquired the old girl on her journey towards a better life. If any of you have seen the Rusty Relics thread on ausrotary you would have seen a lot of old, tied and very rusty Mazda’s. Well I thought id start a thread on rollaclub for the same reason except this one will be about Corollas and other Toyotas. I have about 87 MB of Mazda Rusty Relics and only 4 MB of Toyotas so I hope others can contribute. I know most Corollas aren’t that desirable except for the TE27 and a few others but a lot of other models are real collector’s items. Very similar to Mazda’s. Story time! This is my 1988 Toyota Corolla SR5 AE95 4WD. I went on the hunt for one of these in July 2021. Looked for about 6 months and only found 3 in that time. 2 were full of rust which I wasn't interested in taking on. This one popped up with a issue where it wouldn't go into gear. (manual) Owner wasn't sure if it was a gearbox or clutch issue. The car had a lot of work done by the previous owner so I decided to jump on it. I'd like to log the progress of my KE20 as it makes its way from a rough old original to a neat streeter. Purchased the vehicle on the 1/8/2010 for $1500. I saw it driving home from the wreckers after buying new seats for my daily. I've been told i'm the third owner. Originally owned by some old biddy, then a younger dude, whom I bought it off. Have had the 4AGE donor car for over a year now but have been searching for the perfect car to chuck all the good bits into! So here is the one I found. I am the 3rd owner, 157,xxxkms on the clock. Paint is near perfect apart from fade on the roof which will be being resprayed factory colour. Jacked it up to have a look underneath and found NO RUST! Hey guys bought this Corolla for cheap due to it having a blown head gasket so this is the journey so far, cleaning it up and replacing everything on the motor. When I first got it. As you can see she was pretty rough. The plan is to do a budget street cred build. But I want it to be mechanically A1 first. Painted it in primer for the time being. I've always wanted one of these, and at the moment it will suit my lifestyle perfectly. '91 AE95 wagon, 5 speed, all wheel drive, has done close to 400,000 k's and has a stuffed motor but would appear to be very original and tidy otherwise, and is still registered (Tasmania) and driving. Well, as some of you may know i have a bit of a ke1x addiction... I still currently have my ke17 sprinter and a ke16 wagon but i've chasing this car for 5+ years and finally managed to buy it. Ke1x wagon is pretty much my dream car, and was a bit saddened when my current one (build thread on here) is too rusty to do much with... Now this one is not perfect, But it's pretty bloody good. So i may have bought yet another Corolla for the collection.. This makes 3 Ke1x chassis i own now, With a possible 4th and 5th in my sights also So basically, What we have here is a mostly original Ke17 Sprinter. Car hasn't been on the road since 1994 and it's sat outside ever since.. It's currently a rolling shell but it does come a 4k and a k50 Basic run down is it's quite straight, mostly rust free and very complete. Everything interior wise will need replacing besides the passengers door card and seat.. It's had a hit in the rear so the boot won't close, but certainly fixable!
