Jesseb369 Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Hey all, Ive been searching for a while and trying to find the visual, structual amd powertrain differences between the Ke70 and Ae71. I have read that all these people on here wanting to ugrade there engines to 4age and 4agze etc into their ke70's and have also read that it is an easier conversion to do a Ae71 with 4age engine... I was just wanting what the differences are. Even if you think your imput might not mean much. Any help would help me HEAPS. Cheers fellas. Quote
LukeAE71 Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Do a bit of a search on here as this topic has been covered before. Main difference is in the name which you will work out makes the difference. KE70 = K series parts AE71 = A series parts A series means you can put in A series engines quite easily. K series means you cannot put A series engines in easily without changing to A series crossmembers for your engine, gearbox etc. You will need to source the engine crossmember, gearbox cross member, and tailshaft all to change to A series. As A series are becoming rarer and more popular these parts are now commanding high prices. You will prob find a whole AE71 cheaper than you would all the parts. That is just how it is becoming. If you want a 4AGE, GZE, etc you are best to find an AE71 and in manual. If you really like the look of the early KE70's which is what's called the flat front then you will be doing a lot of work to change everything over to A series to put in a 4A motor. Like I said, if your overall goal is to end up with an A series engine, start with an AE71. Much less work in the long run :) Quote
Jesseb369 Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 Ohh okay! thanks heaps. okay so the powertrain is different. What about the actual looks of the cars and interiors? As i havent had the 2 cars side by side noticing the differences. Are there many more "creature comforts" between the models? i know that differs on wether there Cs or Cs-x etc etc. But just between the two types of cars alone? are there any differences in the exterior and interior of the cars? trav_555 Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Look harder http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=1389 Travis Quote
Jesseb369 Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 Thanks Travis. I'm not to sure how to search. But ill figure it out :) its a pretty good page. But the pictures don't work/load?? Quote
trav_555 Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Nah its an old thread Are you using the search link thingo button up the top right? An ae71 has a slanted front, an early model ke70 has a flat front, a late model ke70 has a slanted front Overseas corollas are the ones with quadheadlights or a different style front, kind of a cross between flat and slanted You will get used to them and the different names, just keep looking around, look at rides threads and in the automotive sections Cheers Travis Quote
Jesseb369 Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 Thanks again Travis. So, Ae71's are more Rare to come across than Ke70's?? I guess they are from what i've read. Quote
trav_555 Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Not necessarily. You just need to know where to look. Keep an eye out and you will find the perfect car for you. I think ae71's are more sort after so they are more rare on these forums, but a granny is most likely not going to do a 4age conversion on the car shes had for 25 odd years. You see what i mean?
