seabiscuit Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 If you're looking to rebuild a 4k, offer to take one off somebody's hands for no more than a case of piss and you'll probably have a much fresher motor than the one you say is already in it. Back to the main question that was asked: these are the options that seem to be the most common 1. Cheapest/easiest - 5k or 7k - 5k adds little more torque, revs a lot more but little less power. 7k big torquey beast of a K motor, but doesn't like revving too much. Bolt on superchargers have been done! Cheap torque but not much power and almost no thinking to do to put it in 2. Semi-expensive/fairly simply - 4age/4agze. Will be a killer 4-banger combo in the KE70, although really only worth it if you work the motor which is easy as there are heaps of bolt-on bits for 4age motors. Better power and only a small amount of troubleshooting to put one in. 3. Expensive/complex - SR20/CA18 - Little to lots more power than 4age but probably a tad more expensive. Sweet ass 4-banger power but quite expensive and probably not very simple 4. Rotary! - Not much idea on the details. Quote
