murtle23 Posted March 2, 2010 Report Posted March 2, 2010 Hi all, I have a 95 toyota corolla seca (7A-FE engine) which needs the water pump replaced. Is this a job suitable for DIY. I want to give it ago mysel but I've heard horrible reports about lifting the engine to gain access. What would a mechanic roughly charge to do the job. Quote

But to make it easier on yourself, Remove the drivers side wheel and the plastic splash/engine cover. Make sure you have the vehicle properly supported on something other than just a jack, and then you can do most of the job sitting on your arse inside the wheelarch :blinks: Prop the engine up as well and remove the top driver's side engine mount if you need a bit more room to move. Instead of paying a mechanic, buy yourself a decent set of ratcheting spanners and wonder how you ever lived without them :lolcry: Quote
