ok well here is the thing, i cranked my 4k in a ke20 today and it was purring nicely i then gave it a cool down

 

an hour or so later i started it again and when i revved it it would lose its .. power i guess, it sounded like it was coughing and would then die. it happened repeatedly, now my ? is, it had a 3k 2 speed and now has a warm 4k 4 speed, the petrol line and filter ect is the same and so is the carby, before i put the 4k in the 3k was super sluggly .. sluggier than usual and i put it down to the motor, box or diff but now everything has changed it still doesnt want to revv. so is it the carb ?

 

and if it is is a 3k and 4k carb the same or not, and if it sounds like the carb would it be worth getting some webbers ?

btw: it idols very nicely, but the owner said it has had some cam work so its abit lumpy

It might be worth while to check you're getting a crispy spark, and check the ballast resistor and it's connections, that thing has stuffed up a few times on my car and on another KE that I know of and resulted in a problem like the one you're describing. It's probably not the problem but it's pretty easy to check out anyway. Goodluck with it, I hope you get it sorted because KE20s rule!
