scottiriver Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 hello everyone i am having constant problems with the bearings on the shafts. I'm on the seccond set of shafts and have repacked bearings twice on this lot i get a whyne from the passengers side (i have diagnosed this side from jacking the car up and listening to the noise whilst in gear) it sounds like somthings rubbing on the side of the wheel but the noise is there when the wheel is on and off as well as the brake drum on and off is there another bearing on the inside of the diff near the centre that needs repacking or replacing? should or how do i get the bearing changed on the shaft? or maybe a new diff? all help will be appreciated cheers scott Quote
SLW42 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 there is another bearing on the actuall diff centre inside the diff housing try checking that out mate, either that or check how straight ya axles are bud if there ripping through axle bearings just check if there twisted/bowed or bent Quote
scottiriver Posted February 23, 2011 Author Report Posted February 23, 2011 any easy ways of checking the inner bearing? and if the axel is bent? cheers Quote
SLW42 Posted February 24, 2011 Report Posted February 24, 2011 pull the axle out and throw a straight edge on it i.e a level or one of those metre long metal ruler's or something dead straight then turn it around the axle, umm inner bearing would probably be just to pull the centre out and spin the bearing to see which it is Quote
