fordy Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 (edited) Hi guys, I have a 1982 model CS Corolla KE70 with 4K-C engine. I have owned it for several years now, and nothing major has happened in terms of mechanical faults or anything. The only exception is the diff, which has started to act up recently. The diff has always had a whine in it, and I've been told that it is common in this model, but now the diff is starting to die, making noises that can only be described as shrieking around a right hand turn, plus knocking whne going downhill. We have found a replacement diff for the car, but since then I have been warned that this model may need special equipment in order to perform a diff change. I was curious if anybody here has attempted the same procedure on this model car and could confirm or deny these claims. Edited December 7, 2005 by fordy Quote

fordy Posted December 7, 2005 Author Report Posted December 7, 2005 Excellent. Thank you guys for such a very quick response (diff changing is scheduled Friday) and for the warm welcome here :D I look forward to further discussions. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted December 7, 2005 Report Posted December 7, 2005 Took dad and I 20 minutes to drop a T series diff out of a TA23 Celica, exactly the same setup as a KE70 diff, it is very easy to change them :D Quote
