diablo37 Posted October 1, 2011 Report Posted October 1, 2011 I'm new to corollas but not Toyotas. I just recently got a 77 corolla 3KC with 126,00mile (orig.), I have cleaned the carb 2 times and it still will not idle without a rag over the 1st barre. It is driveable and runs great on the top end. Am I missing simething on the idle side? I cleaned out everything, like slow idle jet and put ia a new parts from a rebuild kit. Any help would be great, by the way I bought it from a guy who was the original owner and keeped excellent records for $600.oo. It turns out he was a B-17 pilot in WW2 and was a prisoner of war, anyway thanks in advance. Quote
MrInKryption Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 Could be a vacuum leak. Check the hoses. Quote
diablo37 Posted October 4, 2011 Author Report Posted October 4, 2011 I checked and replaced the vacum hoses and it still runs the same, maybe a little better the more I drive i. My question was more about cleaning it. I'm starting to think its new carb time? Quote
158kw4k Posted October 4, 2011 Report Posted October 4, 2011 Upgrade to a 32/36 weber. You can buy adapters to bolt on to your standard manifold for $40 nzd. Quote
diablo37 Posted October 5, 2011 Author Report Posted October 5, 2011 Is it pretty straight forard bolt on? I'm in the USA by the way, I found a weber 32/36 dgev for 200 bucks on weber carbs direct. Do you need the adapter or can you make it work? thanks Quote
