Hi good people ,

i've just come across this awesome forum and decided to join ,

as of yesterday i became the owner of my first rolla , it's only a ae94 , but it's a start.

Paid $150 for it with 6 months rego (revs checked of course)....

the catch?

well the back yard machenic tried to fix a blown head gasket , by pulling the head off , putting a new gasket on...and bolting the head straight back on..

no checking for warps , cracks... no machining...no cleaning the radiator....

anyhow , they stuffed the timing up and bent the valves...and thats as far as i got...lol

so i picked up a replacement motor today (4afe) from the wreckers for $500. with 3 months warranty...

so saturday , my mate and i will be pulling the old motor out..

and putting in the new heart.. on my list to do is as follows..

timing belt kit , water pump ,

new radiator (old one is stuffed)

new clutch , (because i'll have access to do it , whats $200. at that stage)

and all the other usual stuff..

and since i'm a powdercoater , why not powdercoat half the motor lol... gotta love hi-temp powders..

after all that is done , i'll be getting extractors and new system under it.

new rims...i have a set of 16's i powdercoated 6 months ago..they just need rubber

and a bit of tlc to the paint, maybe a pearl coat, and some window tint.

oh and a stereo.

over all it' still going to be kept around the $2000 mark...and i know whats been done to it.

the other motor will get a strip down and if possible , rebuilt as a replacement if i ever need it.

anyhow , cheers and look forward to reading other topics,

Adam.
