shrek Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 Hey guys, my 4k-c had a dizzy problem so i towed it to the mechanic. Thats not the problem.... What is wrong is it has decided to start making a distinct knocking sound! I thought it may have been the rocker cover being screwed on too tight (I had painted it while my car was not running before I took it to a mechanic) I have replaced the gasket with a brand new one thinking that would help give me clearance..... Unfortunatly to no avail, if anyone has any ideas of what this could be, help would be greatly appreciated My poor little wagon doesn't deserve a dying heart :( It does sound like this wretched sound is coming from the back of the motor, if that helps! towe001 Posted June 4, 2012 Report Posted June 4, 2012 Pull the lead off the spark plug on the offending cylinder where you think the knock is coming from. (Since it sounds like the knock is at the back of the motor, pull the lead from the number four spark plug.) Start the motor and if the knock has disappeared there's a good chance it'll be the bigend bearing for that cylinder. But that's only if the knock sounds like its coming from within the motor. If its at the top, which does sound more plausible cause of how you was saying about the rocker cover. It'll be a lose tappet. Quote
