My Diff Code

Alrighty, ive been trying to get my head around what ratio ive got in my diff. The Vehicle id tag was blank so i got this off mt diff:

 

T948-42-001

 

Can anyone make sense of it or is it just some dumb numbers. Ive read numerous diff codes explained articles and none match the sequence on mine. However it looks to be a standard borg warner one. I may be wrong tho.

Do you have any idea of the common ratios of Ae71's? 3.9 or 4.1 etc etc

that way i can go have a look for some more digits which hopefully match!

A funny thought just popped into my head! Second and third digit = 42...

 

Which is 6.5 to 1...... now theres something scary lol, but id doubt thats the case

Whats the difference between S diffs and a borg?

 

Apparently ive only ever seen S diffs come off ADM sprinters.

AFAIK there are Borg warners, S diffs and T diffs

 

However i have susssed out mine:

 

P/N: T948-42-001

Ratio: 3.89

 

And to the side of that its got 3481 or sumthing. I mean FFS 3.89!!!! No wonder it was so damn slow.

Dammit, where the hell does 3.89 come up on the list?

The closest i got is 3.889 which is 06, but nowhere is there an 06 on my diff.

manual except 5 speed sedans have a 3.889

5 speed sedans have a 4.300 (optional 3.889)

and the auto has a 4.111

 

biggo...you diff has the aidz :)

 

either that or the number on your diff is just a rounded off 3.889 ie 3.889 becomes 3.89 if u give 2 decimal places. i doubt that tho :)
