I am looking for information about installing a T283 in a U312 rear axle housing.

It can be posible? The idea is use the diff gear ratio of the U312 but installing the LSD from a T283 in it.

U series is the early corolla? E2x series? And the T is later celica and E7X series which aren't interchangeable.

T diffs are 6.7", U's are 6". You will have a crown wheel that is too small. It probably won't fit without at least being machined, or it may not fit at all. You'd have to check where the pinion sits in the diff, it's probably in the wrong spot.

I must try to get a new rear axle.

the problem is that the T283 is shorter than the U312, and the car runs ok with the 3,9 one.

Do you know any alternative?
