lammi Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 I've been hearing (and feeling) a bit of a knock somewhere in the front of the car for about 2 weeks now, and finally decided to take a look today, and found that the front left wheel was loose and i could wobble it around a fair bit. My first thought was that the wheel nuts were loose, but this wasnt the case, the whole hub/strut was wobbling round, so i took the wheel off and discovered that where the hub connects to the tie rod is loose as can be seen below: So now i'm just wondering whether there is meant to be some sort of bush in there or is it stuffed. thanks in advance to whoever can help me as i am a noob at this sort of stuff Lammi Quote
Biggo Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 (edited) If its clunking - its the tie rods. If the wheel can be moved in/out its the wheel bearings. Neither is expensive to fix. edit... take the tie rod off and move the stub. It should be stiff, like almost hard to move. Also check for rusty residue. If its clunking/easy to move/rusty....theyre rooted  Edited July 3, 2006 by Biggo Quote
Robert Posted July 3, 2006 Report Posted July 3, 2006 if you replace it yourself remember to get a wheel alignment  Quote
