  4. well the kit for my car is a twin (or single) DCOE 48 side draft. what does everyone think of this, for road usage... fuel economy isn't really a factor as i don't care. i would be getting exhaust mods, porting, cams and the kit includes a new intake manifold. the kits contain 2 x 48 DCOE Weber Carburettors 1 x Redline Manifold to suit (12-3062) 1 x LP1000 performance linkage kit 2 x Soft mount kits 2 x sets manifold studs 1 x fuel banjo T-piece (optional) and in the config i want are AUD$2,057.32 what do u reckon, good value?

I'm still going ahead with it, looks like everyone says a 5k so i'll be starting with that and then maybe later the sr20. thanks for everyones help (btw i don't intend to leech, but i don't seem to be able to do any solid amounts of research as i start and something happens and i hav to stop etc. so i figured this was a good way 2 find out)

  10. lol no they aren't rich and i'm not trying to waste peoples time, i'm a bit muddled up about this and i want to figure out what i want to do. you mentioned 4age... HOW MUCH FOR THAT! please coz far out I'm actually serious about this all
  11. annnd with exemption laws it is also the only car i own and can use so that is also an exemption, and in NSW its 4 all the time yay :P ! it seems to me that the general agreement is to ignore the 1jz, anyone for that idea? or is it dead?? also will a 4age or a 3gse beams motor go into this chasis? has anyone done this? and this is going to be built as a road legal dirt road thrasher... so which of these would be the best for that? that means jacked up, steelies, offroad tyres etc!! (plz don't rip me up about the dirt road thing, as driving on them is so much fun! esp sliding around corners)
  12. It is mod plated in QLD though you'll have to get a roadworthy to re rego it. Are you going to engineer/mod plate yours? Are you on your P's? Have you ever even changed an engine over? Can you fabricate? Why so quick to bag out a 5k? have you ever driven a corolla with one? They are surprisingly quick and you can defiantly feel and see the difference. Bog stock 5k in my brothers 55 cost him a few hundred bucks, pulls hard and takes it to Na Silvia's, No attention from the cops. I suggest you pick up a larger k series engine first, get some experience, maybe modify it with extractors, carby, cam ect, then go for the whole hog later when you've finished your apprentiship, and can do a decent job of it. I'm also assuming this is your daily driver? K series engines take a mater of a few hours to change over, meanwhile 4age, sr20det ect take weeks to change over. How will you get to work? The key is to plan and organise everything, have everything ready to complete the job, set aside a weekend with a mate to do it, and some cash in case things don't work out. Cheers, Crowie. thanks crowie and i'll try to get through your questions engineered yes p's, but I'm a mechanic so i get exemption from normal p-plate regulations no, no engine change experience and yes i can + have fitter and turner mates i'm not quick to bag out the 5k, just think an sr20 would be cooler, and where to get performance parts for a 5k, like cams extractors etc. it is my daily but i can use other transportation and i'm in the process of organising everything now, which is why i'm on here asking questions :P thanks for All help, keep it coming!
  13. i'm tempted but i love my little box of crap, btw is that car legal in nsw... i dunno if we have mod plate laws :P How difficult would a 4age or Beams motor be in my little car compared to the ones above? (I still reckon a supercharger sr20 would be sick!!)

  17. or buy something with a 4 link rear end already!! For example, ke70.... Ta22/3, ra23/8 celica, datto 1600(i think there 4 link rear) i like my rolla :P its awesome and a dirt road killer!
  18. holy crap this forums awesome with the amount of replies so i'll try to start at the top: "Why do you have a 1kc in your ke30..?" it's a 3k-c and its something like 1160cc or something...? "If you need a list of things that will need to be done i can help you out " that would be sick jono "A done-up 4K would be plenty for those crappy cart-springs that the Roamans invented and you still have in the rear of your car! Do a 5K, and when it runs well and you have learnt all about conversions, plan a 4AGE. Otherwise you will be another pissed-off loser selling a half-done conversion on here in 12months time... "no rego, no pink slip, just needs finishing and engineering . Cost me $4grand selling only $800..." umm... gettin coilovers and a 4 bar "sr20 can be engineered in qld, 1j cannot. Even if the 1j did fit, recessed firewalls cannot be engineered." I'm a nsw guy "I guess the other question is: what do u needz the mad pOWaA for? To rip sid skids bro? To be fully hectic and beat VLs in drags? To have the best dyno chart? To set better lap times around the track? Or just cause you want something that has a little more zip around town? " because more power is awesome... annd i wants it... and so 2nd and sum otha reasons, ie to beat my mates falcon... and thanks chestikoph1 4 ur help. so yeah, keep the advice coming plz as i still have no idea :P
  19. yeah well i'd be acid bathing the chasis, seam welding etc, and possibly some other clever stuff b4 galvanising and painting O_O sound like alot of moneh to me...

  22. I love my KE30, but 1100cc isn't really going all too well, need moar POWA! So what do you think rolla peepz, 1jz or sr20? bear in mind i have an apperntices budget (aus, not much) but will be able to do much of the work myself and with my fitter and turner and auto elec mates.
  23. I'm looking for a 4 link rear suspension system for my ke30 using a ford nine-inch, would this be possible without cutting?
