  1. hi all, been a while since ive posted on here.. a lot of work and time has been put into my car over the last 2 years.. got her on the road with standard set up, got bored so we upgraded a few things. goin dyno next week, looking to make 330-350hp. here are some old and recent pics of the progress. a lot of money has been spent on this car, taking no short cuts, which is the only way to do it imo! any questions regarding build and specs fire away! more than happy to help.
  2. well ive stopped thinkin bout budget after the 1st week. hahhaaha like people were sayin to me before i started, whatever ur budget is double it. they werent wrong. so i guess no real budget man, but at the same time, i don't need the worlds greatest, jus something above average for a daily drive.
  3. Hey Guys, After a little bit of waitin round, finally gettin a few things in order for my conversion. Jus wanted to kno what suspension setup some of you have used in a KE SR20 conversion. I am using a hopper stopper front brake setup which we are real happy with, and i will be adding another leaf spring on each side at the rear, to bolster it up a bit, jus incase i want to go bigger turbo later on. Although, i would really like to hear from some of you with any suggestions on what i should be looking at for front suspension, bearing in mind this will be a daily drive. So far: Hilux LSD (Prado diff centre) 4:11 AU Falcon 5 STUD disc brake setup at the front/ drum rear Exedy Stage 1 HD Organic Clutch (will be running standard turbo and computer) New Master Cylinder from Hopper Stoppers, saved a lot of hassle. Just about to get tailshaft sent off and cut to size, then can start on the nitty gritty fab work. Any advice would be appreciated. steve
  4. gday boys! its been a while since ive been on here. a lot has been goin on with the project. question- any suggestions on clutch? should i go heavier? or will the standard suffice? get my diff back this week which was done by a mate of mine (speedy diffs) here in sydney. the housin was from a late 90s model hilux, diff centa was from a prado (4.11) was told that these are a bit more rigid so opted for this instead of a hilux diff centa. brand new axels and brakes. will be headin to my mechanic this week, post some progress photos. also I'm sellin all the original KE30 gear that i don't need anymore, gearbox 2 spd auto motor, 4 wheels all in immac condition. all surplus $100 for the lot. 0414486569-steven
  5. which way are you lookin at doin it now?
  6. hey johnny, thanks man. but ill be goin hilux drum at the rear. got the hopper kit on the front and ive been told that this will suffice for engineerin cert. just sent my diff off the other day..once i get that back wont be long then..
  7. There are heaps of options though I've decided to use hopper stoppers.. That way it's done once and done well n I won't have to worry bout second Hand parts etc.. I'll b running hilux drum brakes at the rear
  8. Thanks for input man.. We r sticking with SR gearbox for now.. What brake n calliper combo would u suggest for front n back.. The more research the more indecisive I get lol Thinkin falcon or commo for the front.. Cheers
  9. hey mate, finally got my hands on a hilux 3.7 lsd! after doin more research i found this a good option.
  10. i will def look into that man.. thanks heaps.. looking at changing gearbox to an RB25 5 speed not instead of the 6 speed s15. wont really affect the handbrake n gearstick posi as much. and from what i have researched a very strong gbox. what gearbox r u running mick?
  11. see how we go man. if he can get me a 9inch on the cheap cause he has a source i might to stick to it.. appreciate the feedback
  12. thanks for the advice lads. seeing as this will b my everyday ride and not all bout how quick it can go my mechanic has suggested that i throw in a 9inch diff that way although its heavier, i will never hav to worry bout it again.. so wen its time for few upgrades i don't have to worry.. What u guys think?
  13. Hi Guys, New member so forgive any rookie mistakes. finally getting started on converting my 75' KE30 into a jap spec S15 6SPD MANUAL SR20 turbo. i know this gets asked alot although i will ask again. i need a few tips on what diff to get and at what ratio best suits an everyday driver. keep hearing hilux hilux etc, although i am open to other alternatives. also with brakes- what would best suit a project like this. i am lucky to have access to an uncles mechanic where we will be doin the job ourselves. but jus curious to see what would be my best option in regards to the above mentioned. although its not super cheap doing this sort of conversion, I'm not goin all out either in regards to top of the range bits n bobs. but for the important stuff like diffs brakes n exhaust where the money has to be spent I'm all ears. ive attached some pics of the little beast as she is now. ill be posting pics of the progress as we go.. cheers! new guy!
