  1. Hi Guys I forgot to mention I don't know why that hose runs back to the rear of the head All the photos I have seen looks like it goes from pump to inlet/outlet on heater down the Carby manifold side. The other hose is down the Dizzy side via a copper tube which is same as I have But I have a bypass hose so that won't work on the carby side
  2. Altzzaaclub I did try in both positions. The water pump was replaced 6 months ago. New radiator hoses / cap & thermostat. I understand the delicacy in those pipes. Do you know what size those heater hoses are? I guess I'm gonna have to cut them from the heat pipes. It's weird I don't know why there would be an obstruction or where it is as the car has always had coolant. Although when she moved to Geelong, it nearly cooked on the way. I'll have to check the receipts to see what they did. Mind you that was 8 years ago. I have not driven the car that much until recently. The last two years or so. Must be getting old!!! It never worried me not have a heater. Only ever had one ute with air con & never used that. LOL ;) Truth be known it is my mother in laws - one owner & has only got 130000 on the clock Thanks again for the response John( Afghan)
  3. Hi Guys I tried Taz_Rx thought. So I checked this. The bottom WARM slider control is broken on the behind the fascia console. Tried moving the internal control ( near the inlet/outlet on passenger side) forward toward passenger & back towards firewall- after driving around still no heat on either setting. I hope there is no fuse needed for this as I took the fuse that runs the clock & internal lights out. Kept flatting battery when not in use for extended periods. The fan works so I am guessing its not got a solenoid- please don't be so simple!!! I have taken a couple of shots of the engine bay. I'm really worried about getting new heater hoses. Can't find them any where. Do you guys know what size they are OR what do you use to replace them? I've been a bit shy to pull them off in case I get stuck. I am down to one car at the moment. Sorry about the oil & water marks. Had a problem with overheating over summer Oil leak is driving me nuts. Long story but I need a better mechanic - That's what happens when ya get your hips replaced & can't do it your self. I'm saving up for a Engine stand & hoist. Thanks for for input so far John I added another photo
  4. Hi Guys Thanks for the response I have no tap in engine bay The hoses seem connected I replaced he water pump a while ago & hooked all up the same. I Have a copper pipe running along the head & the hose runs to the heater. The other hose from the heater seems to go back to the rear of the head. I need to try & buy original manuals My motor 3KC
  5. Hi guys Heater not working in KE 30-C motor Not sure if a mechanic has changed the hose set up at some stage Maybe control cable attach point is broken as pretty lose when moving to heat(no resistance) I don't have any control type valve in engine bay for the heater hoses Anyone got some pics or diagrams of hose set up or heater box controls my camera to poor quality Cheers John
  6. Hi guys I guess the winner is Tojo2. It was definitely the ballast. Changed that & it started straight away The only one I could get hold of was a 1.60 Ohm. Hope that's right. I couldn't find any references to the ohms. It has a Lucas coil, so I guess that would be the original. B.L.Z.Bub, would have to be second. You were still right, I don't know how this car was still running so smooth. The point's were shot.Hardly any gap as the fibre lobe had all worn down & they were pitted so bad it's a wonder I couldn't see daylight threw a hole that should have been there. Micron left Next was the plugs, don't know how long they have been in there. They were black but no oil or burning The mother in law had this serviced regularly by hometune or someone every three months so I can guarantee that was a rip off So doing a complete tune up. Worked out it's a Bosch system not Nippon Denso which surprised me. Which brings me to another question. The Spark Plugs I pulled out are NGK BP5ES The plugs they told me suit the 3KC motor are NGK BP5EY I have worked out the S is for suppression for radio etc & the Y is v power a v groove in the electrode I have no noise using the Y but I was wondering if they are a hotter plug Which plug would you guys run? I have a little pinging but I think that is because I have not checked the timing since replacing the points. I still have to replace the Cap & rotor as the ones are bought must be for Denso. The cap is too small in diameter , just Appreciate your thoughts Once again Thanks to all your responses

  11. Hi Guys Thanks for the response Never thought about the coil or the ballast as the motor did run while I had the ignition starter engaged & pumping fuel As soon as I let the key return to normal run position no go If I hold the pedal hard down she wants to run but will not when I let the key go I thought it might have been flooding but I don't think so I'll give the coil a go tomorrow This is dumb- How do you bypass the ballast--- Just connect positive to negative with a wire?? You'd reckon I know a lot of this stuff as I've had Chev 327/350 & Cleveland 351 donks Hey if I change the carby what would you guys recommend?? The manual I have got for this car is bad (it's Haynes or Gregory s but nothing in it really) I need a decent one so have to have a good look around Once again guys I appreciate the time for your response
  12. Any one got any ideas what the possible cause of the following is I drove about 5KLM no problems smooth as a whistle & parked at the chemist. About 15 mins later came out & could not start the car. She tried & would try to run if you kept pumping the accelerator but no go I changed the fuel filter, Fuel pump but still nothing. I haven't checked the filter in the carby yet. I had a look at the Fuel cut off solenoid it seems to be working but unsure if the holes at the end are supposed to be fully open when it is engaged. They only open slightly when you turn on ignition This car has only 100,000klms on clock original mother in laws car. Any ideas??
  13. Hi I'm a new member & am stumbling through all this as never been on a forum or blog whatever before Have a KE 30 4 door. Ex mother inlaws. 92,000 klms genuine Clutch is slipping badly & may need another flywheel unless it will machine ok Rubbers & door tracks where window goes up in door frame are shoddy Any ideas where can get?? Also want a couple of original manuals as the heater is working but I think one cable may have slipped or broken I don't want to wreck the interior to start pulling things apart without knowing where all tj\he catches are I am in Melbourne Would also like to join the corolla club there as this is normally garaged & only driven once a month Any suggestions would be greatfull Regards john
