  1. Picked this car up in California with almost no rust. My plans are to run no more then 240 hp with a ca18det. I have done many searches for an upgraded diff and I am not understanding which to source here in the USA. When searching here the last hilux model was a small truck. We do have celica supra corolla and trucks available. I would like to have a model to look for so that I have a better idea. I know that the rear end needs to be shortened and that depending on the rear end I might have to keep drums or change to discs. Either way is fine with me I just need it to hold up to daily driving in a 240 hp motor. The laws here are not very specific so after 1975 I can pretty much do as I wish with safety in mind. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  2. I have read many posts here and in other forums about both of these swaps. I would love to keep it all toyota and not have to go nissan. On the 4age I know that you mate it to a t50 transmission or even a w55(?). Have not really seen much info on the w55 fitment in the ke20 tunnel. Will w55 gearbox fit in the ke20? If so has anyone ever used one from a 1995 22re truck and mated it to a 4age? The reason being is that the t50 are a lot older and not so easy to come by here in California. Now for the ca18det. I was looking at the nissan hardbody transmission from a d21 next to an rb20 and the d21 is much shorter which looks like it would be a better fit when swapping the ca bell housing onto the d21. Has anyone ever tried this? From what I have read when doing a ca swap the shifter ends up about 8" back which requires cutting of the tunnel. I know that I can use the ca gearbox and cut the tunnel or mate the rb gearbox with the ca housing but the d21 looks like a better fit with the ca housing. Any input would be great.
