Copy that I can imagine he is long gone!! I want to paint it, giving the car a full restoration. I see the previous owner painted in there somehow but I can see the paint is flaking, so would like to do it properly. Have not got some spot weld drill bits yet so will definitly check out the ones you mentioned. Hi DousaSepen, long time ago, but just wondering how this job went? Did you have any unforseen difficulties getting it out, or putting it back in? I am in the same situation, all along the spot welds under where the windsheild seals looks factory mint so going to be ashame drilling them out! Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks for all the help! Yes that does make sense that they are 2 parts of one component. I am hoping to do a proper restoration and remove ALL the rust and have all the metal looking as good as I can get it. I think replacing the whole top piece is going to be best bet, and giving the lower piece a bit of tlc. Thanks for the info!
