  1. Had some spare jets and put them in, instead of the 20 year old jets I was using. Works great now. Now just to fix the richness issue...
  2. Hi, Sorry if this has been covered. Just rebuilt a carb off a KE30 Corolla. Its currently being used in a Diahatsu Charade Turbo project. Car starts, drove it home, but I have some quick Qs, because I m not familiar with the carbs from the KE30. If I hit the accelerator, there is a slight delay, before the car surges forward. At first I thought maybe my accelerator pump wasn't working, but its fine. Is this expected from a 1970 carb? Secondly, (I should of did some research) which jet is the primary and which is the secondary? The one on the "wall" of the bowl, or the one on the bottom of the bowl?
  3. Got my hands finally on a Carter 4594, will have a hand at installing it this weekend. I wired up the fuel relay last weekend, using a horn relay 30-40A. The car is carby mechanically driven fuel pump. What do I need to know? Do I need to empty out the fuel tank? I was going to just lay newspapers on the floor, is there a better way to catch the fuel left in the lines? Sounding silly, but any tips appreciated.
  4. Thanks for that. Yeah not going for a 4AC power build. I have a 4AG crank, and a block, 4AC pistons will be cheap from wreckers. Give me something to pay with until I set aside the serious cash for the proper 4AG build.
  5. Arent ALL 4AGE Flywheels 8 bolts? Whats this illusive "blacktop"? http://forums.toymods.org.au/index.php?t=m...art=0#msg_42656 "1. ditch the 4AC crank and use GE one from a 3 rib block, the rods will bolt on to this crank no worries. " I hate heresay. Someone must have the 4AC/4AGE Engine Manual? Just need the measurements to confirm. Still don't know if I want a 4AGE or something else. Toymods dyno records has the 4AGE producing something between 50 and 70kw stock. My stock Celica does 86kw now, so anything will be a downgrade maybe. RWD 4AGE motors are like 1K (Theres on on eBay for around that price). Ill need someone to install it, cos I suck at wiring. And then I wont be doing the work myself. At least with this slow 4AC build, I can do everything myself.
  6. Ive got the smaller crank (40mm rods). Anyhow, 18mm pin would mean 4AC pistons could be placed on 4AGE rods? Does anyone have the 4AC Engine Repair Manual they can get the actual numbers off?
  7. Hi, Does anyone have the crank pin diameters (conrod) and main journal diameters of a 4AC crank? Ive tried searching with no luck. Reason being I have a 4AG prepared block and crank, intending on a 4AG build, but might be cheaper to rebuild the stock 4AC at the moment and have something running, rather than something fast and expensive. So really, can I bolt up the 4AC conrods to the 4AG crank? (47.982mm-48.000 Main and 41.989mm-42.000 crank) Cheers, Mark
  8. How different are the 4AC 4AGE blocks Sam Q? 4AF / 4AGE Repair manual has the same diagram for both the 4AF and 4AGE block. Any one know if their the same then? Toyota has used the same diagram for both, so I'm assuming their identical? Funnily enough, Ive asked the same question over at twincam... On another note: http://forums.performanceforums.com/forums...&highlight= Bill says the F heads flow better...? Discuss
  9. Hi there, Looking at getting into some cheap motors to learn off. Firstly, Ive tried searching, but I can't find out much about the differences between the 4AC and 4AF blocks. From what Ive read, it is possible to bolt on the 4AGE head onto a 4AC block, but what about a 4AF. The reason for asking is that my workshop manual (Toyota 4AF 4AGE Repair Manual) only covers the 4AF model. Are the blocks the same? I would hate to torque up the bolts to the wrong specifications etc etc. Secondly, are the mounts similar/the same as the 4AGE mounts? Mates have a broken Corolla with a dead 4AGE, can I drop the 4AC/4AF and test it out? (Ignoring road rules for the moment) Reason for all this is I want to start building/experimenting with motors. I'm sure the suggestion to just buy a 4AGE will come up, but I'm trying to spend as little as I can during the learning process. Cheers, Mark
