  1. Just thought I'd give you all an update and may help others in the future..

So firstly, my revving issue was likley due to the main jets over sized (135) causing the spark to die at 5000rpm so I put in 110s and was revving to 6000rpm no problem - but was not happy with that so I put another cam in. I went with camteh 609

(http://www.camtechca..._4cyl_3k4k.html) given I'm running 10.1 comp. otherwise I probably would have gone all the way..

Anyway, Changed it over two days (what a b... to change, taking that sump off plus for some reason my lifters would not come out through the head - anyway all done now) installation went very well with start up being very successful - p.s. first cam change plus running solids.

After running in the cam, it was straight out with the tacho reving to 8000rpm no problem with power all the way (even on the brake :rocknroll: ).

Tried to put a small video up on the first start up but didn't let me.. I'll try and put in on youtube and send the link over.

  2. Thanks for the info.. It now revs nicely till 6500rpm since changing to the 110 main jets hence i'm questioning my cam not being big enough.

I need to take it out a few more times and check fuel supply or maybe put it on the dyno again. But I guess I just wanna know if the cam I have is undersized for my twin webers head work etc..

  3. I thought I was going to get more out of the Dyno guy.... He did say that I should be running lower than 120 main jets. He also said we need to start of by getting the AFR right then go from there (i.e see if it still bogs down ...)

My webers have the following spec.

32 chokes, 135 main jets, F47 Emulsion tubes, 160 air correctors, idle jets 59F21.

I know I gotta reduce the main jets - I'm thinking of soldering and drilling at this stage and seeing what it does through the rev range..

Another guy from the web (similar set up - 5K) is running the following: 32 chokes; 120 main jets; F7 emulsions; 170 air correctors; 45F9 idle jets. Is it just worth running the same stuff as a base?

Also, anymore light with respect to my cam anyone.. I know its small, is it worth changing it??

  4. Thanks guys... I've had my engine builder come and check the cam timing he says it's fine but I will check it myself! Electronic dizzy I'm using it's been checked running fine. It's weird if I go half throttle it will rev to about 6000-6400 then flattern it and it will just bog down and sound like value are bouncing.... So weird... Haven't had it on Dyno yet tho don't know if I should while running like that.

  5. hey guys i just finish building a 5k its got a stage 2 cam port polished head, converted to solids using custom push rods. twin webers and double valve springs.

i have run the motor in and the thing wont rev past 5grand in 1st and 2nd and in 3rd it may go to 6grand. sounds like it is value bouncing.

has anyone had this problem before? does the standard fuel pump pump enough fuel for twin 40s or does it pump too much and i need a regulator.

I think it may be my valves that the valve springs are too soft and causing the valves to stay open. does anyone know of any strong valves springs for a 5k that has been used in someones car and running right.

If anyone knows what this may be please help us out.

    thanks
