Firstly, Thanks for your words of encouragement and quick replies. I will answer some questions that have arisen in this post -
There's no construction work going on around near your place is there ?
Not that I could see. Some a few k's back down the road on major site, but 4am on Sat morning??
hope someone comes forward. where you insured?
No one has come forward yet, and I don't expect them to. As for insurance, the market value if written off was $800 and the annual premium with an under 25yr old driver ( the current user) was (pulling number from air, as I can't remember) $1200 plus, with the excess for any claim being the same as the market value, soooo, it only had non compulsory third party & fire and theft. If I could identify who the other party was, I think the non compulsory Third Party would pay out a certain amount if they were not insured and at fault.
Hence the smeghole that done this, i'd be involving the police,
and
Have you asked locals if they saw anything?/ You seem to be parked in a residential area?
It was reported to the police after it was discovered by driver of the corolla at the time, which was some 4 hours after the incident. The car was parked in a semi residential area near the train station, so someone who lived nearby where it was parked, heard it at 4am, but no other vehicles around when they went to investigate the noise that woke them. As it was reported some time after the incident, where do you start??
Have you seen if there are any council CCTV cams around?? Of maybe any local businesses with cams out front? Banks?
Cameras are positioned around the railway station, but none cover the area where the incident occured. No local businesses where able to assist.
clearly the work of a T-rex....
Checked the lost and found section of the local paper, but no one had reported one missing during that period. Maybe it returned home without the owners noticing that it had escaped from their yard.
I know this Van and it's tragic that it has been treated with such disrespect.
You have a PM mate, by the way.
thanks, I got the PM and spoke to phatke20s today.
I have contacted a number of wrecking yards recently, those being
All Brand Wrecking Brendale, Narangba Wrecking, Boss Wrecking Tingalpa, Kelly's Wreckers Carseldine, Boondall Auto Recyclers, All Car Spares Windsor, Carindale Wreckers, Beenleigh Auto Dismantlers, Self Service Auto Parts (ABC Wreckers) Wacol, Capalaba Wreckers, Just Toyota Gold Coast, aussie Car Recyclers, Pacific Highway Wreckers, Gold Coast Auto Wreckers, Salisbury Wreckers, and Ipswich Spares.
If others could keep an ear to the ground in relation to suitable parts, it would be appreciated, as it is only a "minor" cosmetic blemish. The rest is mechanically sound.
"A VAN BARELY ALIVE. GENTLEMEN, WE CAN REBUILD IT. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY. WE HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO BUILD THE WORLD'S FIRST BIONIC VAN. THIS WILL BE THAT VAN. BETTER THAN IT WAS BEFORE. BETTER, STRONGER, FASTER. I GIVE YOU, THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR VAN!"
May have to rename it from "The Wonder Wagon" (its a wonder it still goes) to "Steve Austin". For those a bit younger than I, do a Wikipedia search on "the six million dollar man"
